1) I asked him to show me an item at the same time I was doing simple questions about it. He found 2000 excuses to not move the item from the show-window and started offering me similar items that were more expensive and I didn’t want.
2) Once I accepted the guy was a bit blockheaded, I proceeded to check a few suggested item which weren’t too bad and, in order to leave the shop asap due to the stress the guy was causing me, I picked one and ready to purchase the item. Then, he moved to the storage corridor and brought the item box with the booklets and cables BUT the cable was missing. So he spent half an hour pretending he was looking for it while he was AGAIN suggesting me to pick a different item.
3) I asked him many times to give me any other cable he had there I could see as the voltage was the same but he tried to fool me saying it was a different cable when it was clearly the same. He was just showing me what he wanted me to see and my inteligence felt pretty insulted.
4) While all this was happening, another customer was complaining to another cashier and my sales assistant was paying more attention to what that person was saying than me and I felt like he didn’t care about my needs and everything I was requesting. The fact that he refused to show me the item I wanted at first still has me in shock, a sales assistant that doesn’t want to sell. At the end, after 40 minutes, I left the shop and the only thing I got from that guy was an ironic “Sorry about that”.
It’s been the most surreal experience I got from CEX after all these yeas. Just ridiculous.
But twice now there have been instances where they have blatantly tried to rip him off.
Around a year ago my Dad took in an Xbox to sell, which I’d never used for anything other than watching streaming services prior to buying a smart TV. The guy tried to mark down the price, claiming there was an issue with the control – which was absolute rubbish. My Dad ended up taking it elsewhere and getting a fairer price.
But just today, my Dad visited CeX to purchase a game and use some of the balance on his Exchange Credit Voucher – of which he still has over PS100. The guy told my Dad there was no credit left and he must have spent it. My Dad didn’t have the receipts from the exchange, and purchase he’d made using the voucher on him, so he left. But he’s found the receipts at home and will be returning to the store tomorrow.
I’m going to wait and see what the outcome is before taking further action. But be warned – it’s my belief that some (not all) of the staff working here are either incompetent or dishonest.
The first item was KING OF FIGHTERS 00/01 where they said they cant find it. Went there and found it on the shelf under K in PS2 (exactly where it should be!) Bought it and mentioned it took me two secs to find it.
Second item. PERSONA 5 ROYAL for the PS4. Again, we can’t find it. It was right behind them on the shelf as it was a steelbook. Went to counter and said, “you’ve cancelled this order cause you can’t find the item, but its right behind you on the shelf…”
When raising a complaint the store disputes it and says a customer must have picked up the item and moved it to a different section! So how a customer came behind the counter and put it up behind the tills I wouldn’t begin to imagine. Maybe they can throw very well and stuck it right on the shelf perfectly.
I no longer have faith in this store and will not visit again.
