I had a disappointing experience with CeX when I attempted to sell my Samsung Galaxy Tablet, which was in excellent condition. Initially, their system quoted me PS84, but they quickly reduced this to PS75 with a email confirmation to sell, citing the absence of the original box as the reason. When I offered to provide the box, they shifted their reasoning with a new email claiming the tablet has now scratches and therefore could only be graded as B. This shift in reasoning felt like a clear attempt to downgrade the tablet’s value under any pretext, seemingly to maximise their profit margin.

The entire process felt unfair and opaque, leaving me with the impression that CeX is more focused on their profit than providing transparent and honest customer service. The lack of consistency in their evaluation process and their readiness to find reasons to devalue items were major red flags for me.

This experience highlighted a serious lack of transparency and poor customer service, making it evident that their main interest lies in taking advantage as much as possible. I would urge anyone considering selling their items to CeX to proceed with caution. Ensure you document the condition of your items thoroughly and be wary of their evaluation process. Based on my very poor experience, it’s clear that customers need to be vigilant to avoid potential exploitation. What’s worse, is their customer service person didn’t realise their inconsistency and didn’t do anything to help the situation. I have all the emails as proof that this was an appalling experience. I would encourage people to sell elsewhere and avoid this company.

Had a very awful experience, I went to pick up a Sata dvd drive from a different branch furthest from my location as my local one didn’t have it, I got home and found out it was the wrong Sata connection and not as advertised on the mobile app, I tried to return it for an exchange of something else the following day, the manager was rude, and dismissive by saying they don’t have the means to test it and so an exchange wouldn’t be possible, it would cost me more to go back to the original store than the item when my initial journey is calculated with the return journey fare. I felt embarrassed at the Lewisham store as there was a queue of people staring at the attempted financial shaming tactic the manager utilized, the item I ended up buying from the same store that day was a Sata hard drive, which meant if I had a problem they’d tell me that their testing machine is broken and couldn’t take it back.

Very helpful I purchased a Dreamcast with Sonic Adventure on Monday which I couldn’t get to work. I was desperate to get it to work for my partner’s birthday today (Wednesday) so that I could give him something memorable as he is ill with a generally incurable cancer. A different CeX tested it and said both the console and game work but when I got home it still didn’t work. I came back to CeX Lewisham and the guy behind the counter advised me to go to Deptford store with stock and try swapping the disc. When I got home the DC booted it first try no issues and it has worked flawlessly since.
