I called this lunch time (13th May ’24) to return a PS129 defective gaming keyboard which had lasted just 2 weeks. What I thought was a driver issue from the outset was a defective usb C port.
I joined a couple in the customer service queue with not a single member of staff behind the counter. After waiting 10 mins I asked the couple in front if they had been seen to. They advised that their presence had been acknowledged but they had been told they had to wait for a certain member of staff to deal with customer service. Another 5 mins later, a PC world chap walks over and advised that we would have to be patient has he was understaffed today.
Now the fact that he phrased it that “he was understaffed” suggested he was the store manager that day. The lady from the couple in front of me ask that chap, is there anyone else or only that one person, who can do the customer service job. He advised just that one person, with a comment along the lines of his other staff are only shop floor workers. I walked out after 20 minutes without having been seen to. Nor had the couple in front of me. I get 30 mins for lunch so needed to leave.
I would like a PC World head office boss to tell me exactly how many members of staff work working around 1:20pm that day? I counted 2 people messing around with printers and the spec signage. There was another lady which came to process a sale. She was joined by another lady after the customer had left and from what I overheard it needed two people to deal with how to process a credit, or something like that. There was another lady talking to customers in one of the isles. There were two staff members on the far side of the store seemingly discussing the much more important topic of how hang some items on the wall display they seemed to be rearranging. The couple front of me said that one of those people was who we had to wait for. She had been over to the customer service counter before heading back to sort the complex issue of rearranging the display. Very very ignorant. I am sure I saw at least another 2 members of staff at the back of the store just stood around. So in total I counted at least 8 or 9 staff members in the front of the store at that time, with only two customers browsing and 3 of us other customers stood waiting at customer services. No doubt there were more staff members working in the warehouse back of house. Your staff outnumbered your customers.
Issue No 1
How bad is the manager that has not trained more than one member of staff to do a customer service job?
Issue No 2
How bad is that manager that it never even crossed his mind to jump on the customer service desk? He was doing absolutely nothing else other than claiming he was understaffed then continued to walk around aimlessly in a “zombi-like” trance.
Issue No 3
How bad are the staff prioritising remedial tasks over customers who were waiting over 20mins. However I will defend these people if the store manager had given them their orders / instructions.
This shows a complete lack of leadership and authority at that branch.
I bet nobody from PC Worlds head office will grace my review with a response and clarify my request to know how many staff members were working at that time on that day.
I can honestly say I cannot stand PC World. They have very little in store. Everything seems to be internet order only. Gone are the days where you could pick up some RAM or Processor etc. Do yourselves a favour, Use Scan in Bolton as these are so much better in every aspect. The only reason I didn’t use them to buy a keyboard that day was that I didn’t want to drive the 20miles to get there.
My father ordered a macbook 20 days ago and they informed him it will be delivered to our house in a week but if it get busy and it didn’t come withing 2 weeks we have to go and collect it in shop, 20 days past my parents went to pickup and the customer service was so cheap and ignorant that instead of explaining the delay to him they were wasting his time by just ignoring him and at the end there have been a guy called Asad who actually helped my parents and yold them the laptop is here and they just need the recipe of the order which it was with me in the house, few hourse later i went in with my sister, there was this Rude young girl with attitude instead of communicating she only took the recipe not asking anything with no care with no interest of asking what happened or getting information she only went to look over and after 2 minutes she came she just putted some stuff on computer and said oh it’s still not here and that just shows how Lazy the staff are and they just don’t want to do their job amd thats when i confrimed her that 2 hours before a guy called Asad said my laptop is in the shop! And obviously they called him and he gave us the laptop. No apology for their disgusting behaviours and I don’t think i will be able to trust anymore if anyone is reading this rewiew, this is a horrible company to waste your trust and huge amount of money! I’m paying PS2000 and getting this poor customer service!? Doesn’t worth it all!!!!
