Do not buy into the next day delivery from Laptops Direct. As a usual Curry’s customer, I thought I’d try these out instead. So I was browsing through for my first high end gaming laptop. I was looking to spend around PS1200. There were loads of laptops (mine field). After much back and forth on the refine searches, I eventually found the best choice for me. I double checked on Curry’s and prices were similar. The major selling point was next day delivery from Laptops Direct and slightly better finance. Anyway, I ordered on a Friday morning with delivery promised for Monday. I thought, no problem, it will definitely be here Monday as confirmed by them. Sunday night they email me saying it’s out of stock until 10 days later. 10 days! Sunday night they inform me!. Thats shocking! I email to say I’m not happy, they bombard me with emails from several sales/service members all saying they will look to offer an alternative product. I spent ages selecting that particular laptop. I don’t want a different one, unless you can provide a better one for my inconvenience. Anyway, several emails later and a threat of cancelling my order, I requested compensation of a small amount such as a docking station and their pre delivery inspection. They refused immediately. Only offering full refund. So basically I get nothing to regain positivity in my purchase from them, only the choice of more inconvenience! To make matters worse, I’ve already started paying for the laptop on finance and I haven’t even received it! I categorically will not buy from them again. If they did basic due diligence and informed me Friday afternoon that it was not available. At least I could have cancelled and gone to get one from Curry’s. No, they left it too late, 9pm Sunday night. What an abysmal customer service!

AVOID! I had a similar experience as several other recent reviewers who had their orders cancelled.

I ordered a laptop on 6th July with scheduled delivery on 10th July. I was then told via e-mail on the morning of the 9th July that they “could not honour the price that I paid” and that I would have to choose a different item or cancel. They don’t have any other laptops of similar specification and size in the price range so I’m forced to cancel.

I was buying a new laptop for a specific trip later in the week and needed something to be delivered as advertised.

What makes it worse is even though they couldn’t sell me the laptop, they still took over PS1400 of payment from my card. I now have to wait for that PS1400 refund to clear before I can even buy from somewhere else.

I’ve been bounced around different customer service and sales people on calls without any recognition that this is unacceptable service and no offer of some kind of voucher or incentive to consider buying from them again.

If this is how the company chooses to leave things with a first time customer, this will be the first and last time I consider buying from Laptops Direct, and I suggest you save yourself the hassle and buy your laptops elsewhere!

I would like to issue caution when dealing with this company. I placed an order on the 1st of April and their support team is still advising me that they are awaiting stock – 15 whole days later! Had I known the experience would be this appalling, I would have stuck with Amazon, Very or another reputable vendor.

I was sort of using this order as a test to check delivery times and customer service, as the company I work for are looking for a new hardware procurement company and laptopsdirect offer reasonable prices, however, they have failed, both on communication and on turn-around times.

I am unsure as to why they advertised products which they do not have in stock.

I would not have left such a bad review had the customer support team pro-actively managed my expectations but unfortunately this was not the case – steer clear where possible people – is it really worth risking major delays and poor service for a few pennies off? In my case, absolutely not.
