In december 2023 I bought a refurbished laptop from device care in whitley bay. the laptop was super slow and I thought it might be the drive. So I brought it back and indeed it was. They exchanged the HDD with a SSD. They said usually they would charge 45 pounds but because I just recently bought it it’s free. Just a few weeks later the computer didn’t boot. After I brought it back to device care they told me it’s my fault and must have dropped it or something, which is not the case. Then suddenly it was only a software problem that they can solve for 45 pounds. I found that odd because that is the exact same amount of money they didn’t charge the last time. However I thought I shouldn’t pay for something I didn’t do and I assumed that it was the SSD again, because I ran a test which said it couldn’t read the drive.

That’s when I went to canny clever in whitley bay and they confirmed that it was a no name (Bliksem), poor quality SSD. Now that the laptop works perfectly fine it was 100% a faulty SSD and not a software problem. I feel scammed by device care.

Even canny clever gives me a 3 months guarantee on the repair and a full year for the SSD and I didn’t buy the laptop there. As already mentioned device care wanted to charge me for changing the SSD again and even lied about what was the actual fault.

They will make you come back to them to sell you more, don’t fall for it! Absolute scam.
