Service and aftercare are why Apple beats Microsoft every time. As I type this, Craig at the Microsoft Experience Centre on Regent Street, London, is casually telling me, “Microsoft doesn’t recognize the Consumer Rights Act. I couldn’t tell you why, because I’m not a lawyer.” Classic Craig. Just yesterday, I spent an hour on the phone with Microsoft, jumping through hoops to troubleshoot my Surface Pen, which I bought as part of a PS2,300 package with a Surface Studio laptop from this very store 14 months ago. After confirming it was a hardware fault, they told me to head down to Regent Street with my receipt, and they’d swap it over. Simple, right? Not quite. Microsoft is fantastic at taking your money, but when it comes to aftercare, you’re stuck dealing with the likes of Craig–like a live-action version of “Computer says no” from Little Britain.

Great experience for my 7 years old, especially with Minecraft’s 15th year anniversary. We ended up coming twice in 2 days, and I didn’t mind as staff were so friendly and he could do what he loves to do – play. The experience was so lovely for him that he repeats that Microsoft is the best, and he spots the logo everywhere now.

I would like to thank the staff there – they all do a great job. I didn’t take the name of one of them whose customer service was exceptional, but if we return to the store, I will update my review with his name. However, special tanks to the lovely Kathryn, she was so nice to us, and did the extra mile for my son.

The Microsoft Experience Center really amazed me when i visited a few months back. Products are well laid out showing Microsoft’s portfolio of products. The gaming center was my favorite! I spent hours in there playing and experimenting video games. It got a few huge screens and many PCs all around the area so people can game and explore what Microsoft has to offer. Worth the visit.
