The staff the second time, along with the manager, were really great in trying to get the issue resolved for us.
We came into the store as our daughter’s iPad screen froze during an update. When we arrived and showed the greeter the iPad she stated “did it freeze on an update” before we could even tell her. She stated she had seen it a few times – this makes me “assume” that this is an issue. There were also 2 others in the store getting their iPads checked for the same reason.
A tech looked at, ran it through diagnostics and was unable to get it started and stated we had to buy a new iPad and there was nothing else we could do – I asked her how that is possible when it was due to an update and she stated that is just the way it is as they had no way of knowing if it was due to the update or something else. Then she stated that maybe we can claim it on our credit card.
On our way out we spoke with another staff member (thank you) who stated we should call 1-800-MYAPPLE, which we did outside the store. The rep on the phone asked us to go back to the store so he could talk to a tech which staff explained they were unable to do and that the Apple rep had to call the store directly.
While waiting for the phone call another tech came and plugged it in for diagnostics and got it started – we asked her how this was possible and she stated “it was a new test that came in this morning and not all staff were aware of it”!!!! How can that be – why aren’t all staff told of updates when they come out!!!!!!- We almost bought a new iPad Pro had we accepted the first tech’s answer.
****Ensure after you go to the store and something doesn’t get fixed that you get a second opinion in case something “new” came out that all staff are not aware of…….
All staff should be aware of new “tests”.
In the end we were satisfied as the other staff member and manager were extremely helpful
My advice would be to never go here and use online Apple help or, as I plan to do, change away everything Apple I own to a competitor. Without question, the most insulting and damaging interaction I have had with a store in my lifetime.
Atrocious service at this Apple Store. “Genius” employee barely took the time to listen to my issue, did NOT even look at my phone, rattled away in French at me knowing full well that I am Anglophone and sent me away without any assistance, telling me it was not Apple’s issue to solve and that I had to take it up with the software company that designed the App. That’s it. No help, no assistance and terrible attitude. Furthermore, how on earth do I now contact the App software company to resolve my issue? Do better Saint Foy Apple Store. Treat your clients with respect and at least TRY to find a solution.
