I had a hairline crack on the cover of one of my iPhone’s cameras, it wasn’t affecting the functioning of the camera but I wanted to get it replaced before it cracked any further.

Brought my phone in to the shop and collected it an hour later. My attention was immediately drawn to the seepage of glue which was inside the lens, poor workmanship, but the camera seemed to be working ok at the distance I checked it at in the shop (not expecting there to be any issues). I got home and realised the camera wasn’t functioning properly – images from a few metres distance were completely blurry. Took it back in and he could clearly see the issue but didn’t seem to know what was causing it (in a phone repair shop?) He had another go at replacing the lens cover, this time I checked it properly while I was there, still blurry. He offered no solutions, just seemed very sheepish and bemused and said ‘well I gave it a good wipe’. Was very quick to agree to a refund.

Having got home and had a good look at the camera, the lens had clearly been scratched. Phoned around a few places to be told it was going to cost a few hundred pounds (for it to be done by an authorised Apple repair shop) as the entire camera unit would need replacing. Phoned the shop in utter despair and was quickly accused of scratching the camera lens myself (why didn’t he see that when he removed the lens cover, twice, and tell me about it, if that was the case?) but he offered to replace the camera for me for PS100 – usually it’s PS150 he told me, but he would do it for me for PS100.

Having slept on it, I couldn’t think of anything worse than leaving my phone with this man again so I went elsewhere – I ended up getting the camera replaced for PS75 and the gentleman confirmed the lens had been scratched and that I couldn’t possibly have scratched it myself without removing the lens cover. He was just as disgusted as I am.

I’m sure this review will get the same response I got when I phoned up very upset and I’ll be blamed again, but just think carefully before leaving your precious items with this ‘repair’ shop.

Fantastic shop I urgently needed advice yesterday on what to do with my phone which I’d dropped in a full sink of water! The manager was so helpful. He gave me advice for trying to dry it out overnight. Sadly the phone was still not working this morning, so I went in to see if there was anything we could do. The phone was beyond help! But I was then able to get a great little phone to replace mine at a reasonable price – he even put my SIM in and fitted the glass screen protector! I’ve also previously used this shop to replace the battery in my son’s Samsung (he fitted a new one in under 2 hours for hardly anything). Thank you so much for your service! Great to have this shop in town! Highly recommend.

Needed my iPad screen replacing, which they did and it’s a poor job – it isn’t stuck down properly at all and bits of dust keep getting stuck behind the screen – will be taking it to be replaced elsewhere. On a separate occasion I needed my rear phone camera replacing and it was given back to me with massive cracks on the back of the phone. They insisted they couldn’t have done it and that I must’ve done it. In the future I will take photos before I take a device in for repair, but I won’t be going to this shop again
