I have always loved browsing BestBuy since I was a child and the other store was a FutureShop, but after many negative experiences I have hit the point of no longer shopping in-store. When I buy things, generally I go with the specific intent to buy what I need, however every time I go to purchase something from here and am unable to find what I am looking for, the staff with either actively attempt to sell me the wrong thing, or just ignore me. I went in to find a microHDMI to HDMI Cable, and asked one of the staff members if he knew where I could find it. He led me to another staff member and asked him, the other staff member said “I don’t know” and they both walked away in opposing directions, leaving me to look for the item myself. After finding the cable that was listed for $35, I took it to the till and was about to buy it when the cashier told me it was going to be $45 after tax. I said it was listed at $35 and even after tax it wouldn’t have increased by $10, and she said “Maybe it was put back in the wrong place”. So I went and checked and lo and behold, the entire wall of cables was completely mislabelled. It is very clear that there is something going on with this establishment, and honestly it’s probably that the employees aren’t paid enough, but there is absolutely no reason for me to go in to this store and purchase something when I can go online and not have to deal with poor customer service.

Really unimpressed with this location. I brought in my 2019 Chromebook hoping to do the trade in program, literally the only question he asked was, “does it turn on”? I said yes, then he just flat out said “no we don’t accept Chromebooks for the trade in program.” He didn’t even look it over, offer a rough estimate of what it might be worth, nothing. Just flat out said no.

I thought well that’s weird, because the customer service desk sent me over here, but alright, whatever. Then I remembered we have two locations in the city. So I called the Preston location, asked if they accept Chromebooks for the trade in program, and he said they do, he asked me when I bought it, what model it is, etc. literally asked all the right questions the center mall location failed to ask. He was even able to give me a rough estimate for what it might be worth over the phone!

This location needs to work on their customer service and actually look at the items people are bringing in, ask the right questions and look it over, before flat out saying no. Not a good look.

1 Location
Malls are a hot spot for shoppers and riff raff. Great location and must be fun for LPO or security if they have any. Parking lot is big. A number of ridiculous driver’s during busy hours.

2 Store
Didn’t get the chance to really see how clean the place is or how organized it was. It seemed decent and average.

3 Product
Had the product I wanted. This is why I go to BestBuy in the first place.

4 Employees
Maybe I didn’t encounter the great ones but entering I felt unwelcome by that guy at the front and leaving I felt disappointed with the checkout lady. During shopping I ran into two people who offered help but but didn’t know how to help me. I found the item myself which was not where they took me to look.

The first and last impressions remind me why I don’t go to BestBuy more often.
