When I asked why, he claimed it was because of a policy related to returning products with an exchange item on the receipt. His demeanour was shocking; he stared at me with such anger and raised his voice as if he wanted to punch me. Other customers around were surprised and commented on how terrible the service was from the manager.
Feeling frustrated and mistreated, I called the head office to lodge a complaint. They apologized and clarified that it was not their policy. They said I could return the item at any location within the one-month return period. A follow-up call from Best Buy’s head office confirmed this and assured me such an incident would not happen again.
I highly do not recommend this location to anyone. If you have any issues with this store, I strongly advise contacting Best Buy’s head office directly. Avoid the Markville location at all costs if you want to avoid such a horrendous experience.
It took a while for a “blue shirt” employee to assist us, but he did call for someone to help us. It was our lucky day because we met Noel, a senior advisor. The TV that we were looking for was available, but it wasn’t quite in our price range. I still couldn’t justify the price tag. Noel asked us what we usually view on our TV – regular shows, movies, gaming, action movies, etc. He gave us a run down on all the TV’s and options. It turns out the TV we were interested in wasn’t suited for our purposes. Noel was incredibly patient, and answered all our questions. He never made us feel like any question was too small. He showed us a TV that had everything we were looking for, and it was several hundred dollars less than the one we had our eyes on.
Noel was called away, but another associate helped with payment, which was super-fast. While my husband went to get our car, the associate wheeled the TV to the front entrance. I totally forgot to get his name, but I appreciated that he waited until my husband drove up, and then placed the TV carefully inside our trunk! Now, this is how service should be!
This back-and-forth left me feeling frustrated and helpless. To make matters worse, the staff member I spoke with was chewing gum while talking to me, which I found very unprofessional. It’s clear that neither Best Buy nor the delivery carrier wants to take responsibility for the delay. A week of delay is unacceptable, especially when customer service fails to provide any real assistance or solutions.
