I recently bought a full kit here, Motherboard, Cpu, Ram, NVME. When they sold the Motherboard, they did a Pin check. They said it was to ensure no physical damage, i.e. I did not bend or break the pins when setting it up, as this would void the warranty. I understand this, and generally this is fair.
However, once getting this machine all set up, and it running for ~1 day, the machine stopped booting after installing a NVME drive. I disassembled the machine and diagnosed deeply and found a single burnt pin. A pin likely related to NVME (as I could get it to boot without one installed). This is likely due to a short or defect in the motherboard, and not due to physical damage (PHOTO INCLUDED).
I took it apart and took it to the store. As soon as I stepped in I explained everything I diagnosed, and mid-sentence as soon as I said the word pin, a staff member told me to leave, that I was getting no service. On a $500 motherboard.
I explained that he pin was burnt/shorted, and not physically damaged, and pleaded that they look and diagnose it. Their service technician looked with a cheap $2 magnifying glass and proclaimed I broke the pin off (obviously not true, look at the photo). They refused to follow the steps I took to get the computer to boot and falsely claimed the warranty was 100% void and that they would do no Exchange on the faulty goods they sold.
So I sent the Motherboard to asus, for $70 out of pocket shipping, and a $300 replacement to hold me over until the RMA was complete. Asus did not claim physical damage, they repaired the Unit and are currently shipping it back to me.
Despite this massive inconvenience, completely rude sales staff, and deceptive/incompetent support engineers who don’t even have the correct tools to do a diagnosis (A $2 magnifying glass was not sufficient to properly see a single tiny pin in clarity), I offered them a reasonable offer. Pay the $70 shipping, and 20% of the replacement board, for a total for about $130 to make myself whole for this mistake, which they ignored.
Due to this gaslighting, lying, bad customer service, bad diagnosis, and doing everything they can to not stand by products they sell, I will never be purchasing anything at Canada Computers, and I advise anyone buying things, just use Memory Express or Amazon, don’t give these dopes your money.
While the East Vancouver store is the one that rejected the RMA, this store is where I bought the goods sent me driving across Vancouver in rush hour to get “diagnosed” by their C-Grade technical support staff, and couldn’t hand a return/exchange directly, despite a full diagnosis and evidence of the fault and cause.
Eventually I decided on an Armoury Gaming Desktop from CCE. The spec was good. West Broadway had one in stock and in I went. Connor and Evan were working and I complained that the desktop didn’t have exactly what I wanted. Connor then said “Let’s build you a custom desktop”. He put together a quote of all the components I desrired to my exact spec. Surprise, surprise, for a little bit more I got A LOT, LOT more.
Evan and Connor spent time discussing the various component choices and what they liked and didn’t like. When I asked for more RAM they said “You don’t need that”. When I asked for a more expensive video card, they said that the incremental performance was not worth the increased costs. Very refreshing that these guys didn’t try to upsell me.
I placed the order and Evan went to work building th computer. I have built computers myself but let CCE builld it for their small fee to make sure all the components worked. Evan finished the build in a few days. Having a look inside was a thing of beauty. All the cabling was neatly routed and zipped tied. It looked like art! Evan’s attention to detail is second to none. It was built perfectly.
The added benefit is that I got the CCE warranty which is a no hassle over the counter warranty. No having to ship the computer off to someone.
CCE, Evan and Connor are very knowledgable about all things computers and are highly recommended. The store is also well stocked with perihperals and accessories.
The first thing that struck me was how impeccably neat and organized the store was. Each shelf and display was thoughtfully arranged, making it easy to navigate and find exactly what you’re looking for. The cleanliness and tidiness of the store made for a pleasant shopping experience, and it’s clear that the staff takes pride in maintaining a welcoming environment.
One of the standout aspects of this store is the customer service. The staff are not only friendly but also highly knowledgeable about their products. They were ready and willing to assist us with any questions or concerns we had, offering expert advice and guidance. It’s evident that they are genuinely passionate about technology and computers, and this enthusiasm is infectious.
Whether you’re a tech novice or a seasoned pro, you’ll feel right at home in this store. The staff’s ability to communicate technical information in an approachable and understandable manner is truly commendable.
In conclusion, I can wholeheartedly recommend this store to anyone in need of computer-related products and services. My experience at this store was nothing short of delightful, and I will certainly be returning for my future computer needs.
