Just purchased a previously enjoyed camera and traded in some of my own equipment in exchange. I was looked after by David on this occasion. David was very knowledgeable and happy to offer advice on my options regarding camera choice. I was in the shop for well over an hour and never felt rushed to make a decision. Jan also helped me to decide what was the best route. I have used Canterbury Cameras for several years and always find them helpful, knowledgeable and honest. Whilst I was there another customer came in and asked for their camera sensor to be cleaned. It turned out to be dust in the viewfinder and the sensor was perfectly clean. The staff member (Max) even took some test shots to show the customer that the sensor did not require cleaning. There was no charge for this and I think it took around 20 minutes to check everything. Wonderful to see this honesty! Great work by all the team at Canterbury Cameras.

I absolutely love this shop and the wonderful people who work here! Every time I visit they are so helpful and kind – they clearly care a great deal about photography as well as knowing a lot about it. I’ve bought film here and had it processed, bought a lens and a used film camera (the Yashica-A in the photo) – which Max patiently talked me through how to use! In addition to new and used digital and film cameras, they have a range of film and materials for home processing. They process b&w onsite and send colour off, so that takes a bit longer but I’m fine with that as I want to support this lovely independent business. There’s also a sense of community here, which I really appreciate – customers having a chat with each other and recommendations from staff of local darkrooms and courses to go on. I always look forward to my visits!

Have long bought my photographic kit from this excellent independent photography dealer & specialist. Everything from my first digital camera (Nikon D70) to my latest Z7 II Mirrorless kit, and today I purchased a great set of Binoculars (Hawke Frontier APO 10 x 42). Always get great advice & service from Canterbury Cameras, and their staff are superb. Big shout out to David, Max, and the owner, Jan. Highly recommended and I will use them again. They offer so much more than the soul-less mail order companies (they know who they are!).
