At the mention of a refund the man serving got an unpleasant passive aggressive attitude as if he was used to having to deal with idiots like me trying to pull a fast one. He said they needed to keep it in for tests, I tried to explain the problem and understand what the tests were (I guessed it had been deemed OK to send out already) but was dismissed with a few grunts.
When I returned today the same man was there and explained smugly as if he were talking to a naughty child that ‘the power button is missing’ so no refund, then looked past me as if I’d disappeared. He hadn’t even bothered testing the battery. If he’d tried switching it on and off he would’ve realised the button was very much there but horribly degraded so was squashed and hardly usable. I tried to challenge his statements with basic reality, but was met with more passive aggressive put-downs. ‘hmmm? No unfortunately I don’t need to test the battery as the power button is missing…(gaze past me again).. Hmm??’
I felt he wanted a confrontation (I see him mentioned in several other reviews) so I just said thank you and left, I’d rather take up the issue with someone else if I have the energy (luckily only PS23 wasted). Obviously won’t use cex again.
Update.
I’ve just purchased my favourite camera from off their website and I’m totally stoked with it, a Sony a57 with kit lenses, a total bargain.
First class service all round bought with the voucher system.

I would just like to say thank you to Dave and his team.
Walked into the store today (Saturday pm) and it was busy three members of staff working flat out, my items needed testing before I sold to them, but because they were very busy it would take time and a large queue was forming. So Dave gave me an hour to return which was great as I could go and shop. 45 minutes later I returned the shop was clear of customers so I asked and They had rushed my items through. Sold I’m so happy with the service I receive from Dave and his team.
I’ve read online that some items don’t get posted out because of the condition of the item etc. Which is annoying because I repair game boxes as part of my hobby anyway. Just having some communication could have resulted in a happy customer.
I’ve now picked up a copy on e-bay that will need repairing but that’s absolutely fine. It’s also nice to know the seller will be getting the proper money for what they’re selling.
