My partner was told the price they would offer for items, no problem there, agreed etc…. To then be told they wouldn’t be able to test them until Monday morning and that we would get a call Monday lunch time. My question is why? Four members of staff, by this point we were the only customers there, yet have to wait till the following day to test. Which infact would take less than ten minutes to check that they were in working order. Poor customer service all round….. we left the store with items.
Went back in on Tuesday again in the hope there was a competent member of staff who could test them there and then, again was told couldn’t test till the next day… by this point we figured that is just the way they work… left the items, returned the following day to be told one worked and the other didn’t, they both worked perfectly fine when we left them. We cashed one in and returned home with the other. Would you believe it if I told you, surprise surprise the second one worked perfectly fine when we got home. I work in a public facing role myself and I found the staff in there to be unprofessional and clearly unable to deal with more than two customers being in store at a time without declaring that it’s manic.
I was told they’re inundated with items to be tested I would have to return after 2 hours. “Fair enough if they’re busy” I thought and wandered round the shops for 2 hours. Upon returning to ask if they had any luck with said Dreamcast, I then got told “it hadn’t been tested yet come back in an hour as they’ve got to set another TV up” I wasn’t too impressed, but I said thank you and went back out.
I left and came back an hour later. Upon asking the lady at the till if they knew what was wrong I got “it won’t been tested as they don’t have the set up for it.”
Why I couldn’t have been told this 3 hours before I don’t know?
After asking if they could just refund me as I quite frankly had given up hope at this point, I got told “no you can’t get a refund sorry, we only refund goods we’ve tested.” Brilliant when they can’t test it. They also had no other ones in stock to swap. By this point, I just asked for my Dreamcast back as I know they weren’t going to be any help. They were very dismissive and told me to visit Southampton.
Took it to the Marlands Branch and the lady couldn’t be any more helpful. They tested it within 20 minutes and resolved the issue and even apologized for the other stores 3 hour wait.
After today’s circus show, I shall not be returning to the Shirley Branch any time soon, I’ve quite honestly never had customer service like that. I honestly thought Jeremy Beadle has set me up.
