We have been buying games for decades and we have never seen anyone behave this way. We then asked him if they get targeted by shoplifters a lot and he told us there is a room with a wall filled with photos of people they are looking out for! We asked more questions about it, and he then eventually backtracked and said they don’t get targeted as much as other shops. Still, the overwhelming impression we got from him is that this is not a safe place to sell our games.
To put him at ease, we tried to explain to him we were collectors with rare games we are trying to sell and that didn’t seem to make a difference. He showed no interest.
Of course, we won’t be coming back. I would suggest that treating new customers like they are thieves is probably not a good way to go.
What’s even more annoying is that they still have the item in stock showing ‘mint’ and clearly it is not. It went straight back on sale. My question is that if ordered this online (which you should never do with CEX on expensive items they would have clearly not taken it back with a dent stating that it was Mint). Here is what it says on the website:
MINT: these products must be in mint/new condition. The product must be immaculate; if it is not then it is unfortunately not deemed as an A grade. All accessories means everything that would have originally come in the box. These must be official and the same condition as the product. These items also require their original box and inserts.
I travelled from far, made the journey based on a clear description of ‘Mint’ and even though Im willing to purchase it they refuse to sell at a ‘B’ grade until tomorrow? but put the item back on sale?
The answer is far more than I expected… they simply checked and confirmed the fault, then found a like for like replacement in store and gave us the new device.
The staff were super helpful and friendly and made the process painless.
With a warranty and service like this I can’t imagine buying new tech again.
