Went to CEX Epsom yesterday to sell a no longer needed mobile phone, we were asked to leave it for 30min in order for them to test it, fine;
We returned 1hr 45min later to be told it hadn’t been tested yet and could we come back later, we weren’t happy to do that because our parking fee was due to expire and considering we’d left it with them for much longer than they’d asked for in the first place we weren’t too happy, and told them so.
The assistant went to retrieve the phone, came back with it, and rudely said in front of other customers that it would have failed the test anyway because it wasn’t charging. We knew this couldn’t be the case, but just took the phone home and put it on charge, guess what? It already had 31% on it and went on to charge fully, no problem!
Rude, unhelpful staff member who couldn’t care less.
An apology would be nice, but no way are we going there again!

Really not happy. Warranty loophole SCAM!
Purchased a PlayStation controller for PS60 from day 1 my son was complaining of “stick drift”. I was able to find the time a couple of weeks later to return it as per the warranty (of which I was never provided with written terms).
I was told when I did return it that because my son had dropped the controller (irrespective of that being completely nothing to do with existing “stick drift”) that the warranty was void.

So basically sold a faulty product and left to dry. I will be reporting to trading standards.
Absolutely excellent customer service at the Epsom branch of CEX! I’ve bought phones, a watch and a laptop from them over recent years and today I needed particular products, including DVDs, which they helped me to locate. I wanted to give a special mention to Liam and the blonde, smiley lady (sorry I didn’t catch your name!) for their friendly and positive attitude and their knowledge of the store and its products. Thank you again 🙂
