So I work in Security very close by to CEX and Today a male entered store Selected and Concealed 2x Headphones, He then exits without payment so me and a member of staff chased the male.

The male got tired and we caught up with him and recovered the goods but the male stated he had stolen other items from our store and had sold them to CEX and was awaiting to go to collect his money.

The male then ran off and I immediately went to CEX and showed them a picture of the Male and said yes he has brought 3x Items in to sell(Namely an X Box Controller, 2x Headphones) the Xbox Controller and 1x Headphones were from my store where I am Security.

I was in my Security uniform and when the member of management showed me the stolen goods I then pulled out a roll of Security tags that were the exact same bar code as the Security tags on Two of the Three items, I was told I can’t have our stock back till I submit a Police report.

Next minute the Staff/Manager said “We Can’t just give you the stolen stuff back”, So I explained my position and next minute I get told that “CEX won’t give me the products back and instead will refuse the sale and give the Male back his items”.

So I said let me get this straight so you are not going to give us(The Business) back the stock and that they(CEX) are going to hand back the STOLEN stock back to the Male(Thief).

They then rang the Area Manager/Regional Manager(Chris White) who basically said the same thing that they won’t give me the stock back and it will be returned to the Male Shoplifter despite the fact I could prove that the goods were stolen and I politely said to the area manager/Regional manager if a member of staff came with me to my store that the Electronic Article Surveillance(Security barriers) would go off.

So in Simple terms CEX buy stolen goods and then sell them on to customers buying in good faith so basically you could be/are buying/handling stolen goods which is a Criminal offence.

Anyone with a brain could see that the three item’s were all brand new, Not opened and with the Security tags still on.

Absolutely unbelievable and disgusting practices.

And I will be taking it further.

Absolutely joke of a place. Bought a playstation 4 yesterday and the pad was broken. Also i purchased the wrong game yesterday and was told at the time of purchase any issues I could return and get a full refund. When I returned today less that 24 hour later with full receipt and the wrong game not even touched I was told of the manager that I could only be given a refund in store voucher. When trying to explain what I was told yesterday the store manager rudely and aggressively told me that I have just told you you can get a store voucher. She then went on to verbally abuse myself and my partner. The way the store manager Chloe spoke to myself and my partner I wouldn’t speak to a dog like that. I have always made my purchases from CEX and after the way I have been treated myself and all my family will never spend a penny with CEX again unless this is resolved which judging by the mangers customer service there isn’t much hope of that. Avoid store at all costs.

Trade in prices are completely different to what it says on the website.They come up with funny excuses like they can’t find a screwdriver to open up a games cartridge and there are slight dints on a box,so that makes it half price to trade in.The cleaning machine for discs is no better than using a cleaning solution and cloth and the games console prices are often 2 to 3 times the price that they sell for on EBay.A very strange business model.
