Wow. Hemel Hempstead CEX was the Worst experience ever! And have been to MANY back in London.
Was quoted PS588 voucher online for A grade s22 ultra. Took it to my now local CEX on 02.01.24 and a friendly staff member inspected the phone and ran a few checks. Quoted it as an A grade but then offered me a lower price than I was quoted online . I showed him the email which stated what the A grade was worth and he seemed as if he was about to ring it through but then another staff member came from quickly behind the scenes once he heard the words ‘PS588’ and near enough grabbed the phone to inspect for himself!
He was very abrupt and had no customer service skills whatsoever as he proceeded to tell me the phone had a scratch on it. I asked where?
In fact, what he pointed out was less than a hairs width line right by the charging port which was only visible in a certain light and looking from an inch away ! (which is to be expected after a year of use and the only bit a phone case doesn’t cover , and I STILL didn’t see it until I checked again the car! )but the rest of the phone was in ABSOLUTELY PRISTINE condition !
He stated that the phone had to be brand new to be mint and graded A . Then began to sound cocky saying I need a ‘brand new’ box and a ‘brand new’ charger. Both of which I actually had ‘Then told me to read the sign!’ Completely rude vile man.

Tell me, why would some buy a NEW phone and sell it to a second hand shop!? his excuses were pathetic and felt I was being taken advantage of. Someone more desperate may have sadly parted with and extra PS200 !
Anyway went to another CEX in Hatfield and guess what …..I got my PS588 voucher! Thanks to people who actually know their tech and are truly honest.
Will never return. Avoid these thieves !
My husband and son purchased a PS1.50 game for a PlayStation 3. When buying and mentioning the type of console, they weren’t told it was incompatible with our model. Weren’t told about the 2 day return policy either. Tried to return the game 4 days later, the refund was refused (after a long weekend). Asked why and the sales assistant said the 2 days passed. I asked why they didn’t say the game wasn’t compatible with our model when it was purchased. She couldn’t answer. I asked about the type of console it was incompatible with and the sales assistant couldn’t say the exact model, she started to describe it. It’s not about the money, it’s about not telling clients (including children) the full specs of a product. The bad intentions, in order to make a sale go ahead. The attitude of tricking the client. After all, a complete lack of respect towards the customer. No custom from us anymore, sorry guys.
I have just had the disc drive on my daughter’s PS5 fixed at the Hemel store. It was a perfect experience. The staff were great. When I took it in everything about the repair process (cost, timescales, etc) was clearly explained and when I picked it up important matters like the 2 year guarantee were highlighted. It was convenient to hand the machine in at the store rather than having to post it. I was kept informed of the status throughout. The repair was completed on schedule and the PS5 is working perfectly. 5/5.
