Collected and took home, to realise there is water damage to the screen, battery gets really hot and that the charge port was bent inside, so just as advised, I took it back for a refund.
3-4 days later I hear nothing back so I contact customer services who request 24-48 hours to reply back. Anyway, fast forward a week, I get an e-mail to say that the iPod was returned in worse condition than it was sold in, which was definetly not the case, I just pointed out things that they didn’t see.
What most likely happened was that in the week they were holding the device, they damaged it and tried to pass the blame onto me as I mentioned (in-conversation) to the employee at the time of collection, that I was hopefully planning to open the device to modify it. (Which I didn’t do as the screen was cracked and water damaged and would have cost even more to replace).
They refused a refund and so I had to contact my bank to issue a charge back, only then, did they accept the refund.
This is probably just sneaky company policy rather than a store-specific issue, however it is a computer exchange so this is expected.
For anyone using CeX, take plenty of geo-tagged photos of the device you buy AT the store & try photograph the employee that served you.
Also take photos of the device when you take back etc.
Scummy business practices.
For trade ins I think I’m just gonna use mobile games exchange from now on, just seems like such a waste of time to take known working stuff and get it rejected for silly reasons, meanwhile I bought a brand new HDD from CEX a while back and it had unrecoverable SMART errors the second it arrived lol.
It was quite detailed and to the point!
However, many of the questions we asked about the product they sale, one of the staff members said he doesn’t know.. Well it was a little bit surprising as we asked about a product in their store.. He could have excused himself and maybe got us someone who might be able to give us the information.. Because obviously we are spending money for the particular product..
It was overall a nice experience! Staff was friendly and pretty honest!
