Discrimination. I work in retail and also in a well known retail chain and understand high alert can be because of suspicions or a theft earlier that day. However, my boyfriend, a young black male, was followed by a worker and 2 security guards as he came in while he was only looking at the games and what, because he was wearing a black hoodie (with the hood down) and headphones that security was called on him? He’s a gamer and loves collecting games from CEX and has been to multiple CEX’s and this specific shop before. He didn’t react and bought the games he wanted but i am severely disappointed and we will never be back here again. Staff can be weary but this was down right discriminatory and ridiculous. Absolutely DO NOT recommend

I was told that I needed a charger to sell a phone model that did not come with one in the box. When I pointed out that it was nonsensical to require something from the customer that isn’t part of the item’s accessories, I was threatened with a ban by the manager and told that he “doesn’t give a ** about me”. It was honestly like being back in secondary school.

In addition to all this, they almost never have any cash (if you don’t believe me, try it yourself) and I was also told when attempting sell an old phone that even though screen burn is normally acceptable for a grade C, they will not buy in an old phone with screen burn even as a grade C. This store takes the cake along with Walthamstow for talking out of its behind.

I have stopped going to cex because my PlayStation ran out of memory, mainly because I buy so many from cex, great place, the games are way more affordable and if I ever have any problems, I take the game in and they’ve always been more than happy to exchange for a working one, there are other shops similar that are right next to this one but strangely I’m always drawn to cex.
