My recent visit to Cex left me feeling disappointed and frustrated, marking a departure from my usual positive experiences at this store.

Typically, I’ve found Cex to be a reliable destination for trading items and browsing their extensive stock. However, on this occasion, I encountered issues that soured the experience.

I had hoped to execute a straightforward transaction involving trading in items for both store credit and cash. However, I was informed by the staff that this was not possible, despite the seemingly low level of activity in the store at the time. When I proposed splitting the transaction into two separate transactions to accommodate my request, I was met with visible frustration from the workers, who cited busyness as a reason for their inability to assist me. This response felt disproportionate to the circumstances, and it left me feeling discouraged and inconvenienced.

Additionally, I’ve heard troubling reports of workplace culture at this particular Cex location. Allegations of bullying and misogyny among the staff raise serious concerns about the store’s internal environment and treatment of employees.

Despite these issues, I must acknowledge that the store maintains a good selection of stock, a testament to its potential for providing a positive shopping experience. However, given the challenges I encountered during my visit, I would caution others to consider alternative Cex locations, such as the ones in Wakefield, until improvements are made in customer service and workplace culture at this branch.

Wow this shop is a disgrace!! 3 members of staff on front counter that made sure they finished there conversation before i could say anything. Zero welcome and unclean store. I took in an iPad that was graded A by another of your stores less than 2 days ago. They tried saying it wasn’t that grade so I said fine I will take this back to them. I live in Castleford so wanted to go local. Then rhe” Manager ” said accept it as A. He then came out and tried to use a household Citric wipe on my device??? Clearly they use these regularly. I stopped and said ill take my item back. If you think I’m leaving my item with that level of knowledge on electricals for an hour to grade you must me mad. He also dropped my item twice and caught it on the desk. This tablet had a screen protector and a case, never left house with it so was A grade all day long. I could see your A grade tablets in worse condition on display!!!. Customers are valuable and you have just lost a lot through your lack of service and professionalism by all today. If they had bothered to check my account I have used your services buying and selling for years. The 2 employees were more excited about talking about the fact there were no fights between the staff on Friday’s shift?? WORST CEX EVER!!!!

Avoid at all costs if you are wanting to sell! Took in a brand new phone that had literally been delivered a week before as an insurance replacement, only to be told it couldn’t be classed as grade A.. (imaginary light marks) absolute rubbish they are simply trying to rip off people who need quick cash… fortunately I didn’t need the cash I was simply trying to sell My phone quickly and hassle free… this is NOT the place, bunch of con artists and staff obviously trained to try rip people off
