I went to the store on 26/10/2023 to sell my ( brand new Nokia C12) which I had purchased on JD Williams as a present that in the end wasn’t wanted to I thought to be resourceful I’d take to cex rather than sell on eBay. I wanted a quick (quick) process and go about my business – the young girl behind the counter is one of those characters that almost enjoys putting up hurdles and making everything a challenge and with this has a dead voice to add to it no enthusiasm? Cheerful happy voice which is lacking in the modem high street … The rest of the team are exactly the same. It appears they do not like it if their ego is slightly chipped. So I showed the girl the phone and she first of all told me how much it would be which I knew as I’d researched before going in then she asked me to undo the box as it was sealed as it was brand new she looked quickly through the contents and supposedly charged it up….. After just under a minute she said in that low miserable voice it’s not charging have you messed with it or looked at it why would I it was taped which was clear to see and I had no reason to.. 10 minutes later the rude colleague shouted to me – it helps if you put the battery in first !!! First of all you guys are ( supposed to be experts) you look at tons of phones each month so you should see this all the time and you can’t even recognise when a battery needs to be put in from scratch! He spoke to me like I should know and it was my job! Then they asked for ID which was fine so I went to pick up, came back, then the hour wait which Turned in to an hour 15 minutes… They clearly don’t like to be challenged on simple basic structure and gave me filthy looks…well I’ve worked in many sectors and businesses and you certainly don’t speak to customers like that. Before the transaction was completed I said to the lad behind the counter with the scruffy hat on did I leave my passport here whilst I went to wait for the phone checks he heard me just fine but decided not to give me eye contact and just handed it back with his arm behind his back… Then the rude girl said could you not leave your phone test receipt on the counter when you leave – I didn’t I took it with me and put it on the counter as soon as I came back. So what an absolute nightmare in future I’ll go to Portsmouth or Fareham. I’m ashamed to see this in shops the complete lack of care. My name is Mark Cobbe and I’d like you to show this to those that served me that day – of course they’ll make little excuses but serious training needs to be made I’ve read other reviews and it’s a shambles.

Always nice people inside but today I took a product in after checking the price the day before. 28 quid cash for selling to CEX (70 quid brand new from argos). They checked it and offered PS21. “oh yeah the price changes everyday, so it’s gone down in value”. Got home and checked again. PS28 quid still on the CEX website. Was fully boxed, all original items, “A” quality item, had even the protection originally shipped, all perfect. Still says PS28 quid on website even though they said the price had changed since last night. So they were basically lying.

Upon looking at the receipt (strangely it’s basically impossible to get a phone signal inside the shop) they said it was “b class”, even though it was clearly “a class” as it included all original items included the original box and even the box sleeve. So they bumped it down to b class. But I could only verify when I got home.

Clearly up to something dodgy saying “oh the value dropped overnight” well… No it didn’t, it’s still 28 quid online on your own website.

Been here a few times and now wondering how many times I’ve been ripped off…

Yesterday I bought 2 controllers for my sons old xbox 360 when purchasing them I mentioned they are very dirty and should probably have had a proper clean before they put up to display the reply was you should see the conditions they come in…very unprofessional…
When got home I started cleaning them after 20 min they looked as brand new only then to put the batteries on to realise that they were not working properly boths of them..
Next day I come in store to get a refund and I was told that will take about 10 minutes to test them to see what’s the fault…I waited because I had no option but they should be testing before they sell it out not when the customers brings it back due to not being working properly overall I spent time cleaning them only to bringing them back and aswell I had to wait so they were tested very unprofessional system.. recommend getting your acts straight guys..
