My first experience of Cex and my advice – avoid this place! Would give zero stars if I could. I upgraded my WiFi contract and wanted to sell the 5g router that I had previously, which is still currently PS262.99 on Amazon. I was offered a good price for it but had to leave it for 24 hours to be tested. I was certain there would be no issues as the router has always been in the same place (even though it is a mobile router I’d only ever used it at home), has always worked absolutely perfectly and worked perfectly when I pre-tested it myself just to be on the safe side.

I went back the next day, and after waiting for them to actually find my router I was told it had failed the tests due to a faulty power connection and when the wire is ‘wiggled’ its loses power. I told the man I don’t really understand, explained it worked perfectly fine before. He didn’t say anything back. So I asked if it was the actual router or the plug and wire, he shrugged and didn’t know, i asked if it would a make a difference with a different plug and wire and he basically just said sorry its failed there’s nothing we can do while moving the box on the counter towards me as if to say now off you go. I felt really small and humiliated so I just walked out.

I’ve come home and plugged the router in. No problems at all. I’ve ‘wiggled’ the wire, I’ve ‘wiggled’ at the socket end and at the router end. I’ve moved the part that actually goes into the router while in the router in every direction and it did not lose power once. I’m struggling to see what the issue with it is? Unless they are ‘wiggling’ it with such force that would surely inevitably cause damage.

To just have been be shown what the actual problem was would have gone a long way. They have zero customer service skills here. The work area is just so cluttered, disorganised and overflowing with boxes and products and it wouldn’t surprise me if they hadn’t even bothered to test it. My box had a sticker on stating to call customer when product testing was complete and they hadn’t even managed to do that. When the lady (who looked like a supervisor or manager) eventually found the box, she even acknowledged the sticker when passing it to the man who was serving me and said ‘oh there was a note to call customer when done’ in front of me and just walked off, no apology or anything. Just lacking completely in basic customer service. I will never step foot in this place again.

I tried to sell a 20 inch matsuri TV with the remote and was told I would be given a mere PS5 for this tv if it passed the testing (baring in mind this TV was PS150 new 8 years ago). Spent 5/10 minutes organising an account with CEX and giving them all my details which ended up being a waste of time. The server was very abrupt and had the compassion of a tea towel. Really didn’t appreciate this, particularly as I was courteous, despite waiting for 20 minutes in a queue with a heavy TV in my arms.

I came back 2 days later as they needed to test the TV, I was informed the TV worked however, I was not eligible for PS5 due to the remote missing the 1 inch plastic covering for the batteries. Whisky Tango Foxtrot. The server that informed me of this was lush and apologetic. I didn’t catch his name but he had long curly dark hair, black nail polish and a lovely attitude.

Previously, my girlfriend sold CEX an IPhone 11 and received PS50 and we saw it was sold on for PS110 a couple of days later… kick in the teeth to be honest.

Had a terrible experience here overall and would never recommend CEX to anyone. Also it reeks of body odour in there. CEX is only useful if you want to purchase wii games from 2008.

After hearing how a big Welsh streamer was treated in this store and going to the this store and receiving the same treatment I will never use this place again, why waste time and hard earned money if you going to be made to feel like your not privileged enough to use a secound hand store….. I asked a simple question I was then told that the store in Cathays in more high end then the one in town so they won’t take items thay cex have taken for over 6 years….. this store is lacking any sort of idea on what customer service is. Also don’t take kids in with you I have 3 kids we were constantly watched the whole time we were there very creepy all i kids are under 5. Its not nice when your a refugees from a war torn and your still made to feel like your poor and don’t belong.
