If I could give zero stars I would. We were looking for a new washing machine, knowing that Curry’s price matched or beaten any price, wen went there.

I would highly, highly not recommend you coming here. The sales man Gaurav, was very forceful in selling the additional care.

On all of the washing machines there are information print outs for Curry’s warranty and extra care etc etc. On this particular machine, it stated it was PS3 per month to receive Curry’s care which pays for parts and labor etc. Gaurav stated that we shouldn’t pay attention to these values as they aren’t always right, but came back saying it was a PS8 extra per month, not PS3.

However the machine we wanted has a 10 year parts warranty and a 5 year labor warranty. Gaurav said that we will still have to pay a call out fee of PS120 to the manufacturer unless we pay an upfront PS70 to curry’s to cover the cost. We were confused as it didn’t state this anywhere and nearly paid the extra. Checking with the manufacturer our washing machine comes with no call out charge, 5 years free labor and 10 years free parts so we didn’t need this.

He also tried to tell us that fitting the washing machine will be difficult so highly suggested we pay the PS20 delivery and the PS50 installation cost. When I refused the installation cost he then said he can do it for half price if I paid for the old machine to be collected.

Lastly, Gaurav did not read through or give us the chance to read through any of the terms and conditions of the sale and we saw him sign me up to newsletters and he also ticked on our behalf that he read these out to us.

I have tried to contact the store but the live chat will not pass on the stores information so here I am.

If it wasn’t clearly obvious, this man is working on warranty commission. AVOID Curry’s Darlington especially GUARAV who is a very pushy salesman who clearly doesn’t care.

We visited for the second time in a month. Last time was for a tv. We chose 3 different ones, all were out of stock. On this visit we wanted a cd/radio. There were a few we were interested in, only to be told that they had none in, whatsoever! We were told “we might be able to order you one”. We always try to use the shops, but once again, we had to order off the Internet. Very disappointing.

We had excellent service from staff member Ash at the Darlington store. He was Very helpful, answering all our questions and queries and offering advice and information. He was patient while we pondered and even organised for items to be saved for us at another store to collect. A big thank you to Ash and all his colleagues who were also involved in our transaction.
