Yesterday Sunday 7th July, I went into the Workington branch with my family to buy the SMEG kettle and toaster for our house. We went upstairs to find there was NOTHING smeg displayed and when we went up to an employee called “Selina” we asked if there was any SMEG products in store and she replied with “hmm no we don’t keep them here because people steal them”. So we said okay and she suggested to get the tablet to check online. She kept suggesting not to buy the SMEG kettle and toaster but we wanted to buy it. She began to speak about her cafe she had a year ago and I as well as my parents are of Spanish origin. She commented on how she had a Spanish chef and she used to boss him around. It was incredibly racist and rude but we dismissed that as we were just in there to buy two things.

So after 30 minutes of standing and saying we don’t want anything else she finally checked the back to see and lo and behold she did have the kettle and toaster. After she brought it out I noticed the kettle was slightly bigger than we anticipated so we began to comment on how “she’s a classy lady, you can tell she’s not grateful” to both of my parents and boyfriend about me. Which was awkward as no one laughed or engaged with that silly comment. She was extremely rude and patronising. I was in shock with how patronising and disrespectful she was. In the end we just bought what she had to leave the store as soon as we could. When we finally got to the till she asked my boyfriend what his name was and said “oh I thought these two were your parents” and we just walked out. Clearly she wanted to pick on me in front of everyone when she got the chance. I do not know this woman and I’ve never ever seen her in my life before this experience at our local Workington store.

The comments she made throughout the whole service were down right rude. I’m incredibly disappointed that curry’s would even hire someone like her who makes buyers feel so intimidated and disrespected. The entire experience was awful, I’m glad we bought the kitchen appliances we needed however I will never enter Workington currys branch ever again due to this bad experience. I’m not one to complain but I was in shock with how she aimed her horrible comments towards me.

I wasn’t going to write a complaint in but I just hope this stops any other customer from feeling the way I felt trying to buy my own kitchen appliances.

Only came in for a wander around after visiting pets at home next door and it was only until I spotted the printers on show that I remembered an item I needed to send back to amazon to a third party seller and I needed to print out a returns label and I first came across Rebecca who was really friendly and I asked if she could help me get a print out for this one item I need to return and said she would just ask her manager if it was possible for her to print the label off for me of which I explained to Nicola (acting manager for that day) and she said she would but we did come across plenty of problems during the sending via Bluetooth and even email until she finally decided to take a photo of the screen shot I had on my phone, this lady was not being beaten by these few awkward setbacks and continued until I got the printout A4 size, I never purchased a thing but yet they went above and beyond in helping me out!.
I really can’t thank them enough for their help that afternoon and would be making this my go to store if I ever need anything in the near future.

Every single time I have been to this store has been a frustrating experience, where we either take an eternity to get what we want or leave without ever managing to actually speak to someone.

On occasions where we have been able to directly pick out what we want and go to a service desk, examples being replacing our hoover on one occasion or a monitor on another, there was no one there. We once waited for upwards of 30 minutes for someone to actually turn up, and the two gentlemen in the queue ahead of us had been there for some time already on joining behind them.

My partner’s laptop aged beyond our ability to limp it on so we went to get a new one. Only 3/4 machines actually displayed the specs and prices we would need to make an informed decision and the PoS information had been removed. No one around to help, no one could be located to help.

We prefer to see things in person when it’s an expensive purchase but I’d honestly rather go through the online gamble and not give this store my money.
