Went there a few weeks ago to pick up a UPS parcel on behalf of someone else. Took my passport as well as the recipient’s passport as required policy and widely published on UPS’ own website. Owner tries to tell me that only the recipient of the parcel can collect the parcel and can’t have someone else pick it up on their behalf. I told him that I’ve been picking up parcels from UPS for family members for years and their most recent policy, which is published for all to see on their website, says it clearly in plain English that one can collect on behalf of someone else as long as they take both their photo ID. Owner, a young guy who recently came to the UK and opened shop, then tells me “It does not matter what UPS’ policy say … but we can give it someone else to collect, but only if they are local and we know them!” (oh really?). So now he (a small used electronics shop) is overwriting UPS’ (a global logistics and shipping service with its own airlines) policy at his pleasure. It goes without saying that a giant like UPS will not leave it to meagre individuals like him to dictate terms to them or modify policy with their own whims and desires. A bank never allows a local customer to withdraw money, however small, because the bank teller knows them from the local area. The nature of shipping service is such that parcels will be collected from around the world and many times by someone assigned by the recipient, that’s why you’ll not find on UPS’s site a requirement that the access point must know the individual from the local area. This is the problem with having these illiterate and egoistic shops act as collection points – they are just not for for purpose and bring chaos to a service that was designed to make life easy for everyone involved. If this is how they are acting with a UPS service then imagine how they would be when it comes to buying something from them and perhaps then having issues with that item.
Best advice: AVOID FOR ALL PURPOSES.
Went to get my phone screen fixed , normally I can do it myself but this time I thought the PS20 charge would just be worth it so long as I brought my own replacement screen, got home turned it on and my camera was gone . Upon confronting them about the issue and threaten to call someone , suddenly they magically fixed my camera, which they accused ME of tampering with although I never even asked for my money back
These guys are great and really fair in running their business. My phone case accidentally cracked when they were rushing a repair for me last fall, and they immediately offered to replace the case. Then I forgot to come back and it took me months to return, but even after all that time they remembered me and honoured the offer. I’m really grateful, and will def be going back for future repairs.
