Purchased a Fitbit in May 2022 and bought the extended warranty. The Fitbit stopped working properly in a March and called for help the was walked through a reset with Fitbit. Now it has defected again and despite going through the same reset instructions, no reprise. Took it back to a Best Buy and told to call Geek Squad. I did and after a lengthy wait and call was told they would be sending me a return envelope to send it back. No such package arrived for me to return the product. Called Geek Squad again and the wait time has yo-Yoed from 15 minutes to 11 minutes to 30 minutes to 60 minutes before I can speak to an agent. Diabolical service, I took the Fitbit back within its 1year warranty time frame and still have time left on the Warranty. This is less than protection. This is a rip off this product should have been replaced at the store. Extremely disappointing. The fair bit does not adjust with time zone changes adequately and a geek squad have not honoured the Warranty I paid for.
The truth about the Geek Squad Warranty:
I paid for an expensive Geek Squad protection plan for my cell phone. They do not mention to you when they sold it that there is a $100 fee for a new phone, and an $800 deposit for the new phone that only gets reversed once they receive the old phone. The new phone I got was not able to charge or turn on even consistently. I took it to Geek Squad a few times and they said I could only do it over the phone. After that, my health declined and I was never able to send back either phone before the time period elapsed. So now I’m out over $1000 after credit card interest and Geek Squad is not willing to do anything. Taking money for services not rendered is fraud and I wish I was healthy enough to expose this further with legal action. Best Buy and Geek Squad are complicit and from other reviews it appears their dishonest practices and service knows no bounds.

Bought a laptop with 2 years full protection. Damaged the screen in that time but because it was covid I relied on my computer for remote work and school (they wouldn’t give me a loaner). After the warranty plan expired, I kept getting charged over $20 a month. I was told there would be a decent discount for repairs. I went into a best buy to bring it in (still during covid) and there was over a 2 hour line up so I left. Kept getting charged the $20/month. I called today to see if there would be a discount on repairing a cracked screen and was told no so I canceled the plan.
I have spent over $800 (beyond the 2 years of full warranty + Bets Buy protection) in additional coverage which was the biggest waste because there isn’t even a dicsount on replacing the cracked screen.
Never buying a laptop or GeekSquad through Best Buy again.
