Technician was rude and tried severely overcharging me for a repair. Go to the store next door instead (Brixton Mobile Shop).

My laptop had two busted screws (I couldn’t open it myself) and a fan that needed to be replaced. I called in the morning to ask if they’d be able to help me with my issues, and the guy on the phone (not the technician) was very friendly.

Once I got there and explained the situation to the technician, he tried charging me 60 quid JUST to open my laptop / unscrew the screws, which is incredibly unreasonable. 60 quid not even including the price of a new fan. He spoke to me impatiently and as if he was the only store in a 50 mile radius, and that “it’s a service and you’re asking my for labour and the labour costs 60 pounds”.

I ended up going to the store next door, Brixton Mobile Shop, and they tried to open up my laptop for FREE. The screws were so busted that they needed to send my laptop to their lab, where they’d also replace the fans. I paid 90 quid for a new gaming fan (very reasonable price) and they didn’t charge me for unscrewing the screws. They were also friendly, patient and helpful. Imagine how much I would have spent if I was serviced by JK Mobile & Computer Store, at least 150 quid.

Do yourself a favour and go to the store next door if you need anything repaired.

[EDIT: Okay, the business says it was not stolen – but then how do I reset the tablet? As you say, I cannot reset the tablet unless I have the bypass key or the company login username and password. I have neither. How do I reset it? The tablet doesn’t let me install anything, or change the time, it’s completely unusable. When I purchased it this fact was not disclosed and I asked if it was factory reset, and the answer was yes.]

Great deals but what I didn’t know (and nobody told me!) is that the tablet I bought is permanently locked to its security IT department from a company. It was probably stolen from a corporation because I cannot reset it, and in fact it resets itself back to default start page any time it turns off. I can’t install anything on it. I can’t change the clock (and the time is wrong). I can’t change anything on it because it’s still locked to its corporate account.
