You could not find this reviewer’s name because I do not use my real name here for privacy but I guess if you check the service record on the day, you’ll probably find only one person whose last name starts with X for a battery service. I admit I did not notice that the 2017 Pro was on the list in my uploaded photo so it wasn’t fair to give the one star review and I agree with you my device is indeed now listed as vintage device. However, I would like to draw your attention to one sentence in the link you’ve provided me with: “Additionally, Mac laptops may be eligible for an extended battery-only repair period for up to 10 years from when the product was last distributed for sale, subject to parts availability.” Therefore, being vintage doesn’t mean that the battery can’t be replaced according to this link you sent. In fact I’ve just collected my 2017 Macbook Pro in Leicester Apple Store with the battery, keyboard, trackpad etc. replaced for the battery service price PS245 without any mentioning of the word “vintage, which I’m really happy about. It looks like a brand new machine again. Therefore, I would still suggest KRCS investigate why you could not source the parts while they can if you’re keen to offer the same level of customer support as Apple Store. This review is directed towards the KRCS service standard as it seems to have a different approach than an Apple official store. I could consider changing my review if I receive some explanation of the discrepancy I experienced at KRCS compared with Apple Leicester.

I booked an appointment to get my 2017 MacBook Pro battery replaced today. However, when I got there I was advised my Mac was now considered as vintage device, meaning the workshop cannot source the parts for it. Once I left the shop I googled what vintage device mean on Apple website and saw the attached photo. As you can see, 2017 MacBook Pro was not on the list so it shouldn’t be classified as vintage. I then immediately booked an appointment at Apple Highcross in Leicester which was an official Store and they were send the Mac to apple repair centre for battery replacement without any mentioning the word vintage.

Now, I trust that this technician at KRCS Lenton helped me with his best intention and knowledge as he was lovely. Then this discrepancy in the definition of vintage device must have come from KRCS’s guideline which I cannot understand. My understanding is that if you cannot offer the same level of service for an Apple product, KRCS should not be there as an option when I book the appointment on Apple support website because it is literally wasting people’s time.

It’s a shame that for now I have to consider Apple Leicester for my future apple service even though KRCS is closer to me.

This review relates to a visit some time ago, but I feel it’s still worth putting in writing what happened. I came here when my few weeks old MacBook Air developed a large chip on the edge of the casing. The guy insisted that I must have dropped it. I assured him I had not. This went back and forth for some time with him basically calling me a liar. It’s a year on now and small chips have developed along all of the edges of the space grey finish. It’s now more obvious than ever that it’s a problem with the finish and not owing to the impact of having been dropped (which I knew already).

Same day shipment of MacBook Air, ordered using educational discount. Best price I could find.
Arrived next day via DHL. Only slight negative – the tracking number and confirmation of shipment only arrived on the morning of delivery, after I’d already signed for it. Would be more convenient if these were sent the night before so I’d know to stay in and await delivery.
