I went to Media Markt Appelallee Wisebaden on Friday 12th April around 13.30-14.00hrs.
I got reported that I stole Tonie figure.
One gentleman with casual outfit waits and stopped me in front of Mediamarkt exit after I paid my bill.
He showed an empty Spiderman tonie package in front of my face and asked where is it? I am not understanding. Keep asking where is it in German. I asked what? (By the way tonie package the one he showed is white colour. To be honest I never know that package has white colour too. I saw only red package in the everywhere market. I have asked my friend and she said it’s a very old version.)
I turned my carry bag up sides down at cashiering. And I asked what is happening? I didn’t take anything. Suddenly one service seller who could speak English appear to assist me.( I really appreciated that he stay with me and talk to my daughter during we are in control room)
Yes, I went to Mediamarkt because I plan to buy tonie English song because I saw discount on online website was 13.99EUR so I want to check the exactly price at price check machine. It was 16.99EUR so I returned it back to same place. Absolutely you can see on CCTV if it wasn’t deleted yet.
My concern is I got embarrassing in front of everyone who waited at the cashiering. I came with my 4 years old daughter. And now my daughter said are you stolen Tonie. I explained her of course not, you saw everything what they did to me. Hope you understand how little girl feels. Even she told her brother that Mama is stolen Tonie at Mediamarkt. I have no idea how long I can fix what she got information about her mom.
The gentleman checked camera in control room. I am not seeing anything because he closed the door. He went out and came back to check camera second time. Somehow, he came out to explain what the matter to his colleague. The one who could speak English explain to me and of course he said it’s a mistake. Sorry you can go. That’s it!
I came back from my work; l didn’t wear nice clothes. And I am Asian.
I want to speak to manager (not sure is real manager or not) he said we are sorry but we can check you right. We are following policy. Your policy not included how to defence children?
Definitely I allow to check whatever they have doubt on me. Should find the better way. Someone else is stealing it before or I am not sure what are they assuming on me. Because later on l went to show the man who catches me. Which figure I took. I did not see any white packaging over there. Not even one.
They make bad situations to embarrass me. I received only “Sorry”
This language requirement felt discriminatory and unfair. Businesses should embrace inclusivity and treat all customers with respect, regardless of their language proficiency. Media Market’s policy not only limits opportunities for non-German speakers but also fails to prioritize customer satisfaction and equal treatment.
I hope Media Market takes this feedback seriously and reconsiders its language policy to create a more welcoming and inclusive environment for all customers.
