Title: Disappointing Purchase: MacBook Pro in “renewed condition”

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro that was listed as being in “renewed condition” However, my experience with this purchase has left me thoroughly disappointed, as the actual product received diverged significantly from the description provided. As a certified Apple engineer, I was particularly shocked by the condition of the laptop.

First and foremost, the MacBook Pro was described as being in “renewed condition” but it arrived with numerous visible scratches and what appears to be a crack in the lower-left corner of the screen. This is far from excellent and should, by Amazon’s standards, be classified as “Acceptable Condition” at best. The discrepancy between the description and the actual state of the product is glaring.

Furthermore, the laptop was covered in silicone residue, which leads me to believe that it was poorly repaired or that silicone was used to glue the screen, resulting in a dirty and unprofessional appearance. This is unacceptable for a product listed as being in “renewed condition”

In addition to the cosmetic issues, several keys on the keyboard do not function properly and only respond when pressed forcefully, which is not how a MacBook Pro keyboard should operate. This further highlights the poor quality of the product.

Another concerning aspect of this purchase was the packaging. The MacBook Pro was inadequately protected against shocks during shipping. It had fallen out of its box, and the protective materials were separated from it upon opening the package. Proper packaging is essential to ensure that a delicate item like a MacBook Pro arrives in the same condition it was shipped, and this was not the case here.

Overall, I am deeply disappointed with the condition of the MacBook Pro I received, which falls far short of the “renewed condition” it was advertised as. This sale appears to be in direct violation of Amazon’s standards for product listings. As a certified Apple engineer, I expected better, and I hope that this review serves as a cautionary tale for others considering purchasing items listed in such condition descriptions.

After a complete inspection of the MacBook Pro A1708, I find a missing screw under the SSD Drive, which may damage the MacBook. Additionally, the thermal paste has not been replaced since the release of the MacBook, and this is an absolute basis for subsequent sales of the same Apple product.

iPad arrived promptly beautifully packed and in a far better condition than I was expecting for relatively inexpensive refurbished iPad 7. By submitting this review I also qualify for 18 months warranty. What’s not to like. I now look forward to using my shiny “new” iPad.
