Avoid at all costs, Paul aka Rik is most definitely a charlatan.
One the one hand he handles complaints by claiming to trade as a business and as such the warranty has expired but mention trading standards and suddenly his business is the wife’s hobby!
The first PC shut down every 30 minutes due to overheating. Internally the CPU fan ducting was missing as were the graphics card retaining clips.
The replacement PC wouldn’t even support the supplied monitor and had to be connected to a TV via HDMI. Attempting to update the graphics drivers failed because Windows 10 Pro hadn’t been activated, as did a manual install. In fact the replacement was so bad my grandson ask if he could get the original overheating PC back as it would work with the case removed and a desk fan directing air into the chassis.
Paul aka Rik claimed the activation issue was because the PC had been reset. Not only is this claim untrue it also demonstrates his lack of basic PC knowledge.
Paul (Rik) obviously doesn’t understand how a ghost partition works let alone the difference between volume, product or OEM licencing.
If it was a genuine licenced copy of Windows it would make no difference to a OEM system reset as the key would be retrieved automatically.
Some older PCs do not have a recovery partition and need a disc for reset, this will ask for the product key shown on the disc case.
A unlicensed volume copy of Windows will on the other hand direct you to a company server for authentication and will only allow important security updates until licenced.
Yes I am a disgruntled customer but given Paul/Riks dismissive attitude and only being given a partial refund after receiving poor service and 2 faulty PCs can you blame me?
He gave me lots of different prices which seemed quite steep, then when he came back with the final price I asked him where it was from and found the listing on Amazon which was PS30 cheaper than what he was asking.
He tried to say that he put his profit on the parts as well even tho he quoted us PS190 just to replace it. The motherboard was PS70 he wanted PS100 for the parts plus his time. After feeling very suspicious about the whole transaction we decided to pick the PC up and get the money which we had transferred for the motherboard back (PS100). When I called at his house he told me the money had already gone out of his bank for debts he had incurred and had to go to the cash point so his dad could give it to us.
I asked him how he planned to buy our motherboard if the money had gone and he had none to buy it with, he said he was hoping to buy it the week after as he had other computers to fix.
All in all we got the PC and money back I ordered a power supply for PS40 which came the next day and I managed to have the PC up and running in 20 minutes. The motherboard was fine.
I don’t know why people like this try to get away with scamming, but please beware as he could do the same to you.
