TL;DR – I had a far less painful experience going directly to the Apple store in Perth to get my iPhone fixed. For $275 and about 2h of being without my phone, Apple did the same repair for which Solutions IT needed my phone for a week or more and quoted me $330.

I broke the back glass of my iPhone 15 recently and wanted to get this fixed. I contacted Solutions IT because they were the Apple authorised repairer in Bunbury.

They mentioned that it would take a while – and that firstly diagnostics needed to be ran, and this would have to be done prior to being able to order the part to fix this, which would then take several days to get to Bunbury. I understand that this is in line with Apple policy that spare parts cannot be ordered until diagnostics are ran.

When I called back later to book this (which took a few times over two days before I got through, despite leaving a message for a callback), they also mentioned they would need me to hand in the phone for the entirety of that period (which is extremely difficult for me given that I need this for work). I was not offered any flexibility for this, like running the diagnostics on one day and booking in for the repair on another.

The price I was quoted for this repair was $330, and to fix it here I would have had to surrender my iPhone for a week or longer.

Instead of going here, I went to the Apple store in Booragoon in Perth, which is open over weekends and also extended hours on Thursdays.
They ran the diagnostics in only 10 minutes – regretfully they did not have the specific green iPhone 15 back glass part in stock on the day I came (sometimes they do have the parts in, sometimes they don’t, and Apple will not hold stock prior to the diagnostic tests being run), but while it was being ordered in, they allowed me to keep my phone so I could bring it in later when the part arrived (unlike Solutions IT). The part was ordered less than 15m after I had initially arrived at the store and I was free to leave with my phone.

The part was delivered to the store within 72 hours after I ordered it. I had 5 days to book in for the repair, but they were also willing to be flexible with this for me because they knew I was coming up from Bunbury to get it fixed. They managed to squeeze me in just a few hours after they confirmed it had arrived. When I got myself back to the store, they gave me a pickup time, and managed to replace the back glass in 80 minutes. The cost of repair was $275.

I would have been quite happy to go with Solutions IT for the repair here if they were more flexible and willing to take bookings to be able to repair this without handing over the phone for over a week. The diagnostics took 10m for Apple to run before they could order the part, and I could keep the phone after diagnostics – so from my perspective I can’t see why Solutions IT would need to keep my phone for a week or longer if the diagnostic run time is that short, and the repair time is also only a few hours (once the part has arrived, of course).

If you need your iPhone repaired quickly, or if you need it for work and cannot surrender it for a week or more, I’d consider going elsewhere. For me, it was worth travelling to Perth to get this done.

Meh. I took a desktop computer there last week to have it looked at, and the guy who served me was at best agitated that I was in his presence. His impatience made me stutter and eventually I got my words out, whereby he sighed “it could be about a week before we can even look at it”. No problem, they’re busy, I get it, but as I went to my car to get the said desktop, I thought, nah I’m not giving that person my business when he spoke to me like that. Clearly he didn’t want my business. So I went elsewhere and was served with wonderful customer service and in fact the issue was resolved on the spot. I’ll post a review about that business too, if you’re reading this, and interested in good customer service.

After excellent service from Apple Support who pointed me to Solutions IT in Bunbury as the only Apple accredited repairer in Bunbury.
I am very happy to report that Corey was amazing. He was exceptionally helpful, patient and knowledgeable above and beyond what I was expecting. He explained everything he was doing to find the problem and finally the cause of the problem, what the solution would be and what the cost would be. He even phoned me later in the day at home to advise me that the phone was repaired and confirmed arrangements for me to collect it the next day at my convenience.
