I went into the store because I needed a power cord for my HP AIO desktop that I had purchased there. I asked for assistance as I could only find powercords indicated for laptops. A Geek Squad person assisted me and looked it up on his phone (at least it looked like he did) and told me he was sure that it worked on my HP regardless that it was indicated for a laptop. He then says, “If it doesn’t work, you can bring it back.” I stated that I didn’t want to return if I didn’t have to do so. I made the purchase along with a back-lit keyboard and headed home. Guess what? It didn’t work. The HP AIO desk top units require a proprietary powercord with a smart pin in it.

They sell lots of HP products, but they don’t know this? I brought the unit back and explained the requirements. They just shrugged their shoulders and told me to check Amazon. So much for their specialty, Geek Squad team. I’m super disappointed.

I then checked out Staples just for the heck of it. The sales associate was the most helpful person. They actually had HP brand powercords with the smart pin but refrained from recommending the purchase because, again, it specifically noted it was for a laptop. He then went to their back room and found me a powercord from one of their HP AIO store models.

The store’s products are fine with decent prices. The Geek Squad people are knowledgable and helpful. My problem is with the sales staff. Regarding my recent experience there, the salesman was not knowledgable about Apple products. And though well meaning maybe, his solution was to sell me a product not knowing if it would work or not for my needs. His reasoning being that he could just make the sale, then open the box to see, and if it did not fit then refund the money. It did not fit. Then he talked me into a kind of sales insurance he said cost $3. But in actuality resulted in a $50 charge to my CC. Supposedly the latter will refund in 2 weeks. We will see. This is a form of high pressure sales. Unprofessional. Then we had to find another associate who handily found the right product. It was a less than satisfying experience.

Great selection as always. Staff at this location is lackluster, to say the least. Most of the time, they are more concerned with chatting amongst themselves than assisting guests. However,when someone does approach you, it seems like an obligation they wish they didn’t have OR (my personal favorite) they treat you like you’re a thief. That being said, the last time I was there, the young lady who assisted me was very kind, patient, and friendly. I wish I could remember her name, but she has dark hair slightly past the shoulders with cute bangs . She wore glasses and stood about 5’4 or 5’5. She seemed a little shy and reserved at first but definitely was knowledgeable and 100% customer service oriented. I would go back solely based on my experience with her.
