I made an appointment for battery replacement. I was asked if I needed help from a worker almost immediately upon walking in. Got checked in and it didn’t take long for my person to do the rest of the process after sitting at the Genius Bar. First complaint is that I was originally quoted 1 hour wait but that changed to 3 (which was clarified before service started so that’s whatever, I still agreed). They were very busy for a Sunday so I understood. Service was finished at the exact quoted time and getting it back was quick and easy. One other complaint was that they discarded my screen protector without informing me that it needed to be removed beforehand, so now I have to buy another. Other than that the workers were nice and my phone was taken care of.

The “kids” working treated me like a luddite. I’m not a geek but I’m not an idiot. When we figured out the problem (not an Apple issue) the employee said “I don’t know how to fix that” and literally turned their back on me! I had admitted that I had tried all the possible fixes before I came to the store – they asked me if I had tried A, B, C … yes, I just told you that. Then I approached another employee to inquire about an Apple Watch. I explained the watch is for me (66 yo woman) and what features I want. I minute later the employee asked who the watch is for. Clearly they weren’t paying attention to me . I did not make a purchase.

I’ve brought my iPhone in twice because the microphone doesn’t work properly while talking on speakerphone. The first visit was when the phone was a little over a year old. The Genius Bar workers have been super nice, but in both visits it has only resulted in them offering to take my phone on trade at about a third of the price I bought it for. No offer for a refurb unit even. I’m disappointed with the decline in Apple’s customer service over the last 10 years. I feel like this kind of stuff never used to happen.
