I have previously posted a review, but it was not posted.
I brought my new laptop computer(less than1yr old) to Ben’s because my son cracked my screen. I thought it would be faster to bring it to someone locally rather than the manufacturer.
I called because it was taking a long time, and I was told that the wrong screen arrived, that they had to reorder it and it was being shipped overseas so it would take longer than normal.
I waited, and waited… then called. They said that something had happened during repairs and they would have to get a replacement computer
I waited longer…5-6 months total, then got upset and tired of waiting and filed a negative review and a complaint with the BBB.
Ben responded to my BBB complaint by stating I gave him an eight yr old computer and that it had broken parts on it. (Ben’s did in fact repair my previous computer in the past, which is now eight years old, however that computer is still in my possession.) The computer they were given was less than 1yr old.
I got a call a few days ago stating my computer was ready for pickup. Today I went to pick up “my” computer. I was offered an eight year old Dell laptop computer. The whole reason I got a new computer was because my eight yr old “Acer” was obsolete.
I refused to take an 8 yr old obsolete Computer in exchange for my new Acer with nothing wrong but a cracked screen. Where is my Acer? This experience has been horrible and never ending.

I read the reviews. I called Bens asked how much to replace lap top glass. He said $75. Which is fair. He said about an hour of work This is also true I watched a bunch of you tube videos this morning and to the person complaining that the wrong glass came IT CAN HAPPEN. YOU CAN BUY THE CORRECT REPLACEMENT GLASS FOR YOUR SPECIFIC LAP TOP AND IT COULD HAVE THE CONNECTOR COMPONENTS IN A DIFFERENT/ wrong area and it would need to be exchanged. Also if the lap top doesn’t have bezel removal with screws it takes at least 45-60 mins of very careful tedious gentle patient work. I read the reviews also from people who probably aren’t psychiatric doctors saying Ben has anger issues. Anyone can have a bad day and also I think people like that might be better off to stop and ask themselves how might their own actions have made the situation whatever it was. I don’t hold it against a person for getting angry. We ALL GET ANGRY SOMETIMES it’s a normal part of life People don’t just get mad for no reason. Anyhow I am thinking about taking my lap top here read the reviews and if I do I will let everyone know here how my total experience was afterwards.

We have been taking computers to Ben literally since he opened. Probably over 20-25 computers have been through his shop from my family. Called to get a repair quote on a laptop and got quoted $150 in labor, I brought it in and then he quoted me at least $300 in labor… and $175-$200 for the screen.

Apparently despite many reviews of thinkpads being very easy to work on, this one is especially difficult which is reason to literally double the labor from the on the phone quote.

Well I ordered the replacement screen for $99 and replaced the screen in literally 15 minutes. I have never worked on a laptop before.

There was a sign inside that said Ben has retired and this new guy is committed to the same great service. Flat out not true and dishonest. Go somewhere else.
