Best Buy in Auburn Hills, MI, the retail side, is 5-Star. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The Geek Squad side, at that same Auburn Hills, MI location, however, 1-Star. I went to Geek Squad specifically for their assistance in a hardware matter I assumed they could help me figure out, and I made it clear I wanted to purchase those items that day while I was there, but I was made to feel I was inconveniencing them. To start, an older tech made me feel I was interrupting his lunch. Then he wanted to know what I needed. No “How may I help you today?” but more like “I’m busy, what do you want?” Mind you, there was one customer working with a tech and one customer in line ahead of me. That was it. He asked if I made an appointment. I told him I did not. HE ROLLED HIS EYES and wanted to know what I needed. I explained and he didn’t understand. I explained again and he wanted to know why I wanted to do what I wanted to do. It wasn’t a necessary part of the conversation but I explained, hoping to shed some insight but he repeated “Why would you want to do that?” I finally asked him if there was another tech I could speak with and he told me to take a seat, they were all booked up, and if some time opened up they’ll try to work me in, but no promises. He added it could be a few hours. I took a seat and wrote an email to Best Buy Corp, explaining my experience with Geek Squad. This was several weeks ago. No response. I would add that I never had such poor customer service at Geek Squad in Auburn Hills, MI before this encounter with the donut eating middle-aged tech who was too busy watching BATTLEBOTS reruns on YouTube, but thinking this is the direction the company is going in and these are the kind of techs they’re using, I’m looking for an alternate source for tech-related service.
My experience with Best Buy was the worst customer service I have ever received from a company. I am truly shocked at how bad customer service was. I bought a Mac computer worth $2,500 and I was supposed to pick it up at the store, but there were so many delays and problems. I contacted customer service at different times and on different days to see what was the issue, and every time I got someone from India barely speaking English. I could NOT reach the actual store I was supposed to pick up my computer from in Michigan, in the US. Two customer service reps were actually very rude. I received all kinds of excuses as to why my computer was not ready, from “it is on back order” to “your name is not on it” – which was false because I can see my account and my name is ON IT as the person to pick it up!!! Each time they said to me: “You will get an email within 45 minutes to let you know it’s ready”, it has been 3 days and no email, and still no computer, but they were quick enough to charge my card. Finally, after much anxiety and no results, I canceled my order at Best Buy and bought my MacBook Pro on Amazon, which I received within 2 days!!! I will NEVER EVER BUY FROM BEST BUY EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!
I purchased a laptop, and I discovered it went on sale 2 weeks later. I asked for a price adjustment, and it was granted in April. It’s July, and I have not received the full repayment. I been told 5 times it’s been approved and funds were being sent. Best Buy has lied to me repeatedly. I’ve received no call or follow-up from a manager. All excuses. It is terrible for a billion dollar company to have such poor customer service. BTW, most of our major electronic purchases are from Best Buy.
