This review only applies to my failed attempt to get service from the Geek Squad desk at the Stuart location. I scheduled a drop off appointment to have the battery in my phone changed a week advance, via their website and noting they are an authorized Apple service center. I scheduled the service via the Best Buy site, which required me to set up an account and give them info on the device and service required. I was a few minutes early for my appointment but went unacknowledged for 10 minutes until someone else in the line asked that someone come work the Geek Squad counter. When the employee came and asked if I had an appointment I confirmed I did, to have a battery replaced. He dismissed this, stating they don’t do batteries after five. I noted this must be an error, as this was the reason I made the appointment and was part of the reservation process. He dismissed this, said “its an Apple problem” and offered no resolution, just turned me away. The next employee identified himself as the Geek Squad manager and stated I should have known a battery replacement takes too long to do at the scheduled appointment time. Again, no empathy, no offer of resolution and no recognition that the service was by appointment. He did let me know my appointment was only for the opportunity to speak with the Geek Squad staff, not for a drop off repair, as I believed when I made the appointment. Complete lack of customer service. Waste of time and a clear indicator of why I haven’t been in a Best Buy in years.
I’m a VIP member at Best buy. I guess that means that when you have sales prior to them going out into general public, your first crack at them when you get the email or a text message. So I’m quite often at Best buy getting the deals that I can get and just because something says you know $450 for it. I guarantee you they also have a refurbished one that’s in the back for half the money. It does the exact the same thing as the new windows and I do a lot of those shopping. I buy a lot of those items as you know, Best buy is always having some kind of a sale, so it’s always good to check out the sale even if it’s not something you want. Because most likely there is something that’s on sale they just haven’t advertised yet. This particular Best buy. I get five stars The geek squad. I don’t give five stars. I get about three and a half stars of the geek card because it’s they’re very young and a lot of guys don’t know what’s going on with the problems with the other laptops or computers they try. I give them that but it’s just not enough experience for those people
Went to Bestbuy to buy a phone and there was an issue ringing up the phone at the register. Three different employees tried at three different registers and still there was a problem. They went to check (most likely with their IT dept) and there was a known issue with purchasing phones at the store. She suggested to order online for pick up (which I thought was a waste of time) but did it anyway. They said it should take an hour or less. Went back an hour later and the order was not ready. Told them to cancel the order as it should not take long, I’ll take my business elsewhere. It should not have been that difficult, not only did they waste my time (which I won’t get back) they lost a very long time customer due to incompetency.
