Update: Josh (Mr. Word Smith), the manager, just told me that if I didn’t read the small print, it’s my problem, not his. So, my recommendation to anyone who shops here is not to believe what any salesperson tells you here. There is a reason why the parking lot is empty most of the time … There are quite a few geeksquad vehicles sitting in the parking lot though.
Original: They drop dvds and now the Best Buy Total program bills ($179+ in my case) annual renewal fees after the first year to continue to cover your purchases. When I joined the Best Buy Total program, I was told that my items would be covered 3-4 years with no renewal costs. Now, Best Buy says there’s no coverage unless I pay the renewal fees – I canceled my membership.
Best Buy policy:
“The cancellation of your My Best Buy Total membership also ends any Best Buy Protection plan coverage or AppleCare+ coverage provided under your membership.”

I enjoy my trips to the local Best Buy. I have always found people willing to help every time we visit. Most of the staff is very knowledgeable about the equipment they sell. I have had to return several defective items over the years and have never walked out unable to make those returns. Not to mention, they have financing options for nearly everyone with great, good, or bad credit. We have outfitted our home probably at least 3 times in the past ten years. Best Buy has made that an easier experience every time.

Got a Dyson gen5 outsize for a premium price, after 2 month of moderate use the suction nozzle doesn’t stay in place anymore without any signs of wear and tear. Representative refused to take a obviously defective device back and handle warranty and told I should have bought the extended warranty plan from best buy. I would highly recommend not to engage in business with that company since other retail platforms do not cause that much headaches for the customer if a product is faulty.
