I called several computer places because I was having trouble with recording sound. It was Friday before a holiday weekend. Almost no one answered. The person that did answer needed to see us this afternoon. We needed a fix sooner than that if at all possible.

Then I called Fred. Fred did something very unusual in my research. Fred answered his phone. What a nice difference from everyone else. I was happy but Fred advised that he would not be able to look at it today because of other obligations.

We talked for a few minutes and I explained my problem which I thought to be relatively basic but I am not a computer person. Fred adjusted his schedule so that not only could he see my computer today but he could see it right this minute. I took off and would have been there sooner minus the ticket I got for not speeding, but not wearing my seatbelt.

But enough about my woes, let’s get back to Fred. I arrived and he requested that I drop my computer off with him. I didn’t like that idea but I did it anyway. A couple of hours later I get a call to come pick my computer up and the price was not bad. I’d like to say that I have checked and the problem is fixed. But I cannot.

Why?

Because my problem was trumped, no pun intended. I’ve had an annoying problem with Google Voice for months. We’ve tried to fix it without any success. In my opinion, the issue with Google Voice had nothing to do with my request for Fred. I get home and a call comes in for Google Voice on my phone. That has not been happening the way we desire it to. But now it does.

Turns out the problem that Fred fixed for me was directly related to my Google Voice but I’ve gone the better part of 6 months thinking that Verizon was messing me up when it wasn’t them at all. In about 20 minutes Fred fixed my phone problems though he was working with my computer and he wasn’t even trying to do that.

And oh, for the record, the actual reason I called Fred is working correctly now too. Fred is my new computer person and I highly recommend that you use him too.

Fred was incredibly professional.

A computer tech closer to where I live wasn’t able to fix my computer problem for whatever reason and said it’d take serious work, and that that work might cost as much as a new computer.

I was shopping around and stumbled upon Fred’s perpetual 5-star reviews on Google Maps, so I decided to reach out. He said that Microsoft Surface laptops (especially the model I have) are hard to fix but he’d do his best. I told him he could take his time. Months if need be. He was done in less than 48 hours.

Turns out, the problem was very simple.
He didn’t say anything negative about the other tech, even when I was complaining about the other tech since I was so confused that the other tech couldn’t fix it.

Payment procedure was super simple too. PayPal or check.

He was also flexible with pickup and drop off.

Weird situation aside, another 5-star review for Fred. 🙂
