Brought in two laptops, a MacBook that needed repaired and the other just needed tuned up after sitting for a while unused. Took them in on a Wednesday afternoon and explained that I use one of them for work and need it asap so to call me when ready, I ended up calling THEM on Saturday asking for the status and they said the tune up one was ready and they were still working on the Mac. Got a call Sunday morning that they were both ready. I get there, the dude I talked to brought out the Mac and said “Yeah we couldn’t fix this one, it’s a hard drive failure.” I already knew that and the worker on Wednesday told me they could fix it. He then goes to find the other laptop for a solid 15 min. Came out and asked me what it was and looked like. Finally found it but couldn’t find the paperwork for it, so after plugging it in and waiting and waiting for it to turn on, he tells me “Actually, I don’t think this one even got looked at.” It’s funny because it turned on just fine before we brought it in. The only thing that kept me sane while standing there was the fact that he gave me a full refund for both computers. That was my first and last experience with Geek Squad.
So I went in basically looking for a web cam so I could start making video calls on my smart tv…the one guy spent five minutes telling me that it couldn’t be done then got on his microphone and called for back up. Then three members of “the geek squad” all got around me in a crowd while explaining to me that it can’t be done and the only way to do it is to buy a google hub. (The Google hub has practically zero functionality over a google mini) which I’ll buy at some point because it’s stylish but literally the only thing you need to video call on your tv is a 30 dollar USB web cam. The only good experience I’ve ever had here is when the dude in the back installed my head unit. And that was probably a good experience because I didn’t ask any of these guys for help. Oh by the way guys the web cam I was wanting to look at was the owl. So good job jacking up a 1300 dollar sale.
Adam was absolutely amazing. Handled my situation perfectly. I was in a car accident recently and my laptop was damaged. It was mainly cosmetic damage, no hard drive damage. I took it in and they got it taken care of. Once it was at the headquarters, I received a call to confirm my repair approvel. Multiple times I was told it was going to cost $108. Unfortunately, when I went to pick my laptop up from Best Buy in Joplin, the total came out to $536. I was confused and told them I was specifically quoted $108 otherwise I would not have approved(my laptop was only worth $650). The young man went to go get his manager, Adam, and I explained the situation. Adam recommended that, even though he couldn’t wave the entire fee, he’d half the total price making out to be only $260. I was so very thankful and Adam was absolutely amazing at handeling the situation. Thank you!
