So I bought my Apple Watch from Best Buy a little under a year ago. So randomly in May of this year it stopped taking a charge. It was within a year so I figured the manufacturers warranty would cover it, and it does. So I schedule my appointment with geek squad cause I bought the watch from Best Buy to begin with. So when I get there I was immediately told their system was “down” (seems to be a common theme in the reviews.) and that I would probably be better off going to Apple directly. Since I am busy and I have a lot of stuff to do I was kinda turned off by this and I asked the guy well will you at least try? Like he didn’t even try to submit my repair. I think he just didn’t want to fill out the paperwork so anyways sure thing when he actually tried everything went through fine. The guy witnessed the watch not charging and was like usually with this they will just replace the watch so two weeks later I go in to pick up the watch. I assumed they just replaced it so I picked it up and left the store I get home and the watch was off so I figured it needed a charge. Left it on the charger for over 24 hours and nothing watch wasn’t taking a charge. I was like wow how strange that I get a brand new watch and the same issue is happening. So this time because of my experience with geek squad last time basically pressuring me not to use their services and go through Apple directly last time I decided to take their advice and go through Apple. I get to Apple explain what’s up and say to her “how strange I get a brand new watch and the same exact issue is happening again.” She goes out back to take a look at the system notes and she comes back and says: this isn’t a new watch this is the same exact watch they didn’t do anything their notes says they could not duplicate the issue. I was super annoyed so not only did geek squad basically tell me to not use their services and go through Apple (super unprofessional and bad for business and according to other reviews on here seems to be a common theme.) the witnesses the watch having charging issues, and then took over two weeks to basically do nothing with the watch and send me the same one back. I would say the main thing that really annoyed me and the reason I will not ever use their services again is when I picked up the watch the lady did not say anything to me at all. She was very cold and had no customer services skills at all. When I picked up the watch that would have been a great time to tell me hey so this is the same exact watch we did no work on it at all let plug it im and make sure it works. They did none of that. Long story short don’t use this geek squad I’m not sure about others but the one in Tempe marketplace is a complete waste of time. Not only that I asked the girl at Apple after she took my watch for the second time I said “so what’s this gonna take another 2.5 weeks?” She goes oh no maybe 3-5 days. So long story short don’t use this place customer service is terrible, service is incredibly slow specially when they did nothing, unfriendly staff who will recommend you go somewhere else because their system is “down”, do not make sure the product is working before you leave the store, do not communicate with you at all about the repairs or in my case the lack of repairs done. Go direct to Apple or if it is not an Apple product support a small business. I will not be buying all my products elsewhere and will not use Best Buy or geek squad and I’ve spent a ton of money with this company. Lost my business
Going to GeekSquad to address the issues with my laptop was probably the biggest mistake I’ve made so far this year. Every step of the way, the employees at GeekSquad were unhelpful. 1.) I visited their booth at Best Buy a total of 6 times, and there wasn’t a single time that I didn’t have to wait at least 10 minutes before an employee even ACKNOWLEDGED me, despite having an appointment (one guy made an appointment and wasn’t helped for 30 minutes past his appointment time). 2.) When I tried to call to get a progress update, nobody was able to locate my information despite them having called me the day before. This was a recurring trend, so I realized you have to show up in person to get help. 3.) It turned out they needed to restart my OS, so they first had to back up all of the data onto a hard-drive. They didn’t back up all of my data and didn’t tell me that they missed some, so now I’ve lost some of my most cherished photos and data forever despite this being 100% preventable. 4.) I left with my problem unsolved. They spent 6 days working on this problem (which is 2 days more than they said would be worst-case-scenario), I paid $200, and they told me I needed a new laptop. When I took the same laptop to another place, they fixed the problem within a day for $60
TLDR: I’ve never written a review in my life, but GeekSquad sucks so much, at literally every step of the way, that I felt like I had to.
I prepaid for drop insurance on my new Mac Book Pro as I was promised it would all be taken care of and look like new when I got it back should anything ever happen to it. Well the laptop did take a spill and suffered a split in the seam in the back over one of the hinges. I was assured it would all be handled and there would be no sign of the damage when I got it back. When I receive it back the split was still there, looked like they dusted it off and sent it back. They fussed about it and behaved defensively when I showed them the problem. All the while there was a woman next to me complaining to an other Geek Agent that she had submitted repairs 3 times and her track pad was still unresponsive. I was promised that my redo repair would be expedited and over night air shipped that evening. 5 days later. after not hearing anything, I make the call, it wasn’t shipped out for repair until 2 days after I dropped it off, they explained this to me in a haughty defensive tone, as if it were my fault for believing the Geek Squad Agent. Currently no one knows where my computer is and no one knows how to find out where it is. They have me at a disadvantage.I have spent too much money in that store to be treated with such disregard.
