HUGE SHOUTOUT TO TREVOR AND ZANDER!!! First off the store was closing in 10 minutes when I show up and tell Zander my iphone situation. I kept apologizing to having him still be there and he kept reasuring me it was not a problem. So grateful. However in helping me get my phone back to be able to work he lost all my data due to the recall on my phone. Now I must add I called a local “iphone store” and explained my situation to which I was told with that recall I truly have lost everything and even if I stopped by he said he would not be able to do anything. I then show up at the Geek Squad counter and meet Trevor and ask him if he is a magician? He asked me what was going on, and after I explained it all he said and I quote ” it does not matter how long it will take I will get it all back for you”!! True to his word HE DID! To say I am grateful is an understatement, I was moving the next day out of state for a new job and losing all my contacts would have been a disaster, I can’t thank them both enough. I had wanted to bring them a present before I left but ran out of time. Next time I am there that will be on my list to do. They should be recognized as 2 employees with OUTSTANDING customer service. – Thank you 🙂
I made an appt. to get memory added to my laptop. I walked in and registered and the woman at the counter took my laptop in the back and I waited 10-15 mins. She brought it back and said the tech said it can’t be added to this Lenovo model. The memory is soldered in and can’t be changed. I called the company I bought it from and they said, yes there is soldered in memory but there is either an open slot or it may have an 8 GB chip you can take out and replace with a 16 or 32 GB. I had him send me the 32 GB module. I watched two YouTubes and opened up the laptop. I figured if I got into a pickle, I could bring it to a local repair guy (no time to mail it back as I start classes this week). There was no additional module in place. I snapped the new one in and replaced the back. The hardest part was taking the back cover off and replacing it (back to front and then front to back). I booted up and there is my 48GB RAM. Disappointed that they claim it couldn’t be done and I wound up doing it myself. 🙁
I bought a Geek squad contract with my notepad. Took it to the Wilmington NC Best Buy store where there were 2 men behind the counter and no customers. I asked one of them if I could turn in my computer to be fixed and he said I had to have an appointment and the first available was 20 minutes from then. When I asked what he was doing he said checking people in (I was the only one there). Long story short – took 2 weeks for them to send off the computer to be fixed. Got a text that it was ready and tried to schedule an appointment (!!!!) to pick it up but the telephone system was automated and website didn’t work. Strongly urge anyone to go somewhere else for repair insurance. Geek squad policies and customer service are awful.
