My CPU fan started screaming at me after 4.5 years of constant use/abuse, so I contacted the manufacturer(System 76) found out what part(CPU fan, GPU fan and heat sink assembly) I needed and where I could get it. Normally I would go the DIY route, but with laptops, especially where I would have to pop the keyboard out to get to the screws I need to remove to open the case, I though it would be better to have someone who has the skills to do that without messing up the keyboard. I have prior experience doing that on an older laptop.

So I brought it in to Infinite Dezine, Russ said it would probably take 1 to 2 hours to do, because its a computer he hadn’t worked on before, so I could pick it up later in the day or tomorrow. Russ also asked about the part I bought in, because the thermal paste on it was dry, because it came straight from China in a brown box and didn’t have anything sealing it, so Russ also had to deal with that. Russ currently charges $65/hr(2024), and it came out at $105. So with the $68 for the part and $105 for labor, totaling $173, I’m back in business. This is much better than buying a new laptop, because to replace it would cost me about $2300, i.e it wasn’t a cheap computer and comparable replacements are still expensive. I’m sure that even if you aren’t as computer savvy as I am that if you have a computer problem, Russ can probably help.

Russ is awesome, easy to talk to, and very good at his job! He called me with updates on the status of my laptop, he was upfront with the pricing, and he got it back to me (better than ever!) in the time he said he would. He also took extra time to have a conversation with me on how to better upkeep my battery, using my old damaged one as an example; this really meant a lot to me. Wonderful customer service, very knowledgeable, top quality work, and fast. 10/10 experience!

Had a great experience with these guys. Had a custom gaming rig that needed some updating. I had all the new gear and Russell did a awesome job installing everything and configuring the bios.
