I wanted to support local business and I needed a cracked screen fixed on my Samsung s22 ultra. So i contacted the owner via website/phone number. I was quoted $270 which was fair. I paid half up front with the other $135 due after repair. It took about 2weeks for my screen to come in and when it was replaced the touch screen did not work. I had to use my pen to use my phone which was a real problem. He said it was a defective screen and that another 1 would be reordered by “these things happen”. After leaving John messaged me asking if I could please pay him the rest of the money and he would call me as soon as the replacement arrived. Due to me not being comfortable paying all of the bill upfront b4 the service was completed I declined as I was already inconvenienced due to my vacation starting the next week.
Nearly 3 weeks after our last contact I still had not heard from John so I messaged him asking for an update. I got no answer. I left a voice and still no answer. Eventually I called him from my wife’s phone and miraculously he answered I’m sure due to the fact that he didn’t know it’d be me. He told me that he had an issue with the seller of the screen and would need to find another seller. (Why I was ducked and dodged and given no update I’m not sure). So another nearly 2 weeks passed until I was alerted that the replacement had arrived.
I wish I could say there was some sort of happy ending but less than 2weeks after having my screen put on I awoke to have a black screen that no matter what YouTube hacks I tried would not turn back on nor restart. I went to another repair shop and was told the screen was defective and i needed a new one.
I never alerted John of this simply because I am done with the run around and just simply want to move on. I’ll just go to Verizon and see if I can get some sort of replacement but I wanted to put it out in the atmosphere that this small business(which he operates out of his home)is not one I would advise anyone to support. Hopefully he can make his money elsewhere bc I do not want to see anyone struggle but I don’t believe he is qualified to properly handle people’s phones.
