I could not be more dissatisfied with the service I received at iPro. There are so many issues I don’t know where to start.
To begin with, JP kept me almost 40 minutes for my “diagnostic”, spending 35 of those minutes showing me various tools in his shop and trying to sell me a new phone case. My end diagnosis ended up exactly as I had stated–there was “something wrong” with my charger, and he needed to investigate. He asked me to come back in an hour, and said he’d call me (on my partner’s phone) if anything was wrong or he needed more time.
After an hour, he told me needed either 2 more hours to finish the repair, or 45 more minutes to seal the phone so I could bring it back tomorrow. I have NO IDEA why he didn’t call me to inform me of this, but he didn’t, and instead insisted I sit there (he did not allow me to leave and come back). While there, he asked me to sit completely still as not to distract him if I wanted to sit in his office chair, yet he works in a tiny room in a ballet studio, so there IS no “outside of his office chair”–there is only a small public hallway in which I could sit on the floor.
The next day, I was supposed to return at 2PM to finish the repair. He pushed our repair back twice, having me come in at 3:45PM instead. This made me a bit worried, so I let him know multiple times that if he needed, he should keep the phone overnight–I did not want to wait in his office again. I reassured him MULTIPLE TIMES that if he were to need the phone longer, he MUST call me, and I was COMPLETELY OKAY with him keeping the phone overnight. I want to make that very clear.
At 5:30, a half hour after JP said he would call, he texted to let me know that the phone repair was complete. Not TEN MINUTES after this message, he sent a text urging me to hurry as he wanted to leave. I literally sprinted into his office as parking in downtown Portland is horrific, and he essentially threw the phone at me, insulted me for keeping him late to his running practice, and shut the door to his office on me. Why didn’t he keep it overnight?!
Now comes the best part! When I first arrived at JP’s, I told him multiple times that I did not need a new screen protector. He assured me that it was standard procedure to put screen protectors on for his customers, and NEVER ONCE asked me if I wanted to buy one. In fact, I told him no multiple times, but he assured me that it was standard. Upon seeing the receipt, I found he had charged me $20 for it! Not only this, but he charged me more than he had quoted for the actual charger port piece, and forced me to buy another charger and block in order to be able to leave and charged me $40 for them (even though he found that my charger port was NOT broken due to using an incompatible charger).
Lastly, upon reading google reviews, I found that he DID, in fact, put his contact into my phone without my permission! This is not because he “put his address in my navigation”–the contact includes his email and fax, which I have never used or asked for, and which certainly didn’t come from maps.
I feel violated, scammed, and deeply upset at this entire interaction! If it weren’t for the phone charging relatively well now, I would dispute the charge I paid. Beware–I have NO clue why JP has this many good reviews.
Best of luck with your “business” JP,
Blair

iPro is awesome. JP is very knowledgeable and went out of his way to help me get my phone fixed from water damage. He gave it special treatment since water damage is a particularly urgent situation and also because I needed the phone the next day for work. He let me watch the whole process and was incredibly precise with his methods. When it was done he let me stay a few minutes after to make sure it charged properly.
My iPhone 11 Pro Max battery was lagging and the charging port seemed a bit off. iPro Service was easy to schedule me in for a quick diagnostic. They repaired my charging port and replaced the old battery with a new one in under an hour. All for a bit less than what Apple charges. Very happy with the customer service and quality of work. Thank you!
