After posting my review, Alex, the store manager, personally called me to review the situation with me. He asked if I had some time to come back to the store before my trip to fix my screen FOR FREE and also continue taking a look at the phone to see what else could be done.
I delayed my trip for a couple of hours and headed over. When Alex got there he started working on my phone immediately, updating me every step he was able to take with it.
Not only was he able to fix the screen, but he also fixed the home button, which fixed the Touch ID!! Additionally, he was able to extend the reboot time so I could backup some of my phone!!
I also got a 50% off a charger I wanted, as well as a free screen protector on the new phone I got to replace the broken one!!
Thank you so much for everything, Alex! You’ve changed my mind about trusting the store
Old:
My phone was already slightly cracked, but I dropped my phone on the floor without a case this time and the back glass cracked and lost some pieces. I was able to put them back in place, but the home button wasn’t working, which also affected Touch ID. Additionally, the biggest issue was that the phone kept rebooting every 3-5 minutes.
I was traveling out of state the next day and didn’t have much time to fix anything, so I rushed to UBreakiFix and explained the issue in the hopes I could fix at least the reboot issue so I could use my GPS to go back home.
I was told the rebooting issue was due to water getting into the inner parts of my phone over time and damaging the battery (???). I was asked to show the battery life for my iPhone and it showed at 80%. I was told, “Even if it shows 80%, sometimes that’s wrong and you need to replace the battery anyway”.
I was skeptical; none of that made sense to me, since I had just dropped the phone and I knew the issue was about it breaking the back glass and some possible internal damage, but I trusted the professionals and agreed to the battery exchange. Additionally, I was told they couldn’t change the back glass by the next day because they didn’t have the time to laser it, so the only thing they could try was exchanging the battery and trying to change out the home button.
The employee was very polite and nice and told me it would take about 1h to 1:30h and they would call me on an alternate phone to let me know when it was ready.
*4 hours later*, after the store had already closed, I called the place asking if the phone was ready. They said they were about to call me to let me know that unfortunately changing out the battery had been unsuccessful in fixing the reboot issue; I said that was ok and asked if I could pick up my phone; he asked how far I live and how long it would take for me to go pick it up, which was close enough that he said I had the time and could go get it (reminder that I couldn’t leave my phone overnight because I had to travel; I didn’t even get a call to come pick it up before the store closed).
When I got there, my phone screen was more cracked than before and there was actual pixel damage that was not there at all. Before I handed them the phone, there were no touch issues asides from the Touch ID on the screen, but now the screen has streaks, black areas, and clicks by itself. I was told there was “some extra damage” on the screen from when they opened it to test the new battery. Since they couldn’t fix the issue I had, I didn’t have to cover any charges.
If not being able to fix my issue was the only problem, it would have been fine, but they messed the phone up even more than before. Now I can barely unlock my phone to try to back it up to a new one, on top of all the other issues I was already having.
Although the employee was very nice to me, it’s unbelievable that they caused extra damage to my phone that requires me to replace the whole screen, just so I can try and unlock the phone to back it up. They should have bene more careful with a phone that was already badly damaged.
Again, glad they don’t charge upfront.
I was happy and thought my troubles were over… until I got home and turned the console on. When I turned on the PS5, the disc drive started to make a loud noise in a very abnormal way and, to make the situation worse, it wouldn’t take in any discs into the disc slot while it was active. So I immediately went back to the shop and I explained the situation. They gladly took back my PS5 (at no additional cost) and had John reexamine it and make sure that the job was done properly. The following day, I got the call saying that the PS5 was ready… again. So I went back, and before I got the PS5 in my hands, they allowed me to see on site that it was 100% functional again, with a properly working disc drive. Whatever needed to be fixed or adjusted was done and I can now play games and movies again.
These guys are very reliable and their customer service is TOP NOTCH! If I ever have technology issues again, I would definitely go back to them.
