“District Manager” Andrew is a liar, and has low integrity…
If I could give “0” stars I would…..
I want to start off by saying, I should have read the reviews…several mirrored my experience..
I brought an iPad in to the Dewitt location to find out why it was not working. The iPad was in pristine condition (always in an otter box for protection), and just 2 weeks out of Apple warranty. However, the screen was blank. I called the asurion location to inquire about their ADVERTISED free diagnostic and troubleshooting. I was told to bring the iPad in and they would check it out, diagnose and quote me a price of repair that day. Made plans to bring it in the following day, and when I arrived, the worker I spoke to the previous day stated that due to several coworkers calling in sick and low staffing, it would take longer than they initially told me, which was understandable. 2 days later they called and claimed that their staffing was still an issue and they would have to send it to another store to diagnose, and it could be a week. I gave the approval.
After several weeks of calling and no iPad, or answers, they finally reached out in mid October leaving a voicemail to tell me the device was ready to pick up. When I arrived at the store they said they went ahead and replaced the screen and I owed them 189$. I told the store manager I did NOT approve any work to be done and I brought the device in for an estimate and diagnosis with no approval to do work on it without my knowledge.
The woman at the store said she would have to send out the iPad again to “revert” the work done before returning the device to me. Annoyed, I left the store. 30 minutes later, she called and offered a quasi-apology for the mix up and attempted to bargain for a “discounted” price to avoid sending out the device, as they already paid someone else to fix it. The so-called discount consisted of 20$ off the repair, with the stipulation I buy a monthly service contract from Asurion for my home tv/electronics. I declined.
Despite several trips to the store and phone calls in the ensuing months, I received no information on my iPad or its whereabouts until Monday, 22 January. This is when I received a call from “Andrew, District Manager” to work out a fair price for the iPad. Throughout the conversation, he stated he was on vacation for the duration of the companies’ possession of my device and unable to look into it until now-which is why it’s taken so long. He attempted to lobby a price for me to pay for thier mistake. When I made it clear I wasn’t paying for work I never authorized, he became rude and that’s when he began to lie. He made up his own scenario of the aforementioned events leading up to this point, which included “notes” taken for the account-which were supposed attempts to contact me since October. All of these were untrue and made in an attempt to place blame on me for their mistakes and confused business operations. I told him I wanted the device back, and that they told me they had already “reverted” it back to the condition I brought it in. He then stated if I didn’t pay for a new screen, he would just keep the iPad and it would be recorded as abandoned.
It wasn’t until I told him I would contact the State Attorney General Consumers office and Better Business Bureau to complain that he said he would return it, but my screen would be missing. At this point I just wanted my device back and saw that I was dealing with a thief who may do further damage by stealing or inflicting damage on the iPad in spite. See pictures attached that were taken in store when I picked up my iPad.
STAY AWAY at all COSTS!!! They will try to sell you their insurance plans and destroy your property!! I forwarded my complaints to B.B.B, Asurion Headquarters and in the process of filing paperwork through the Attorney General’s Offices…
