They do not have their Terms of Trade listed on their Invoice/Receipt and they do not discuss the Terms with you before you purchase, but they are very quick to take your hard earned money!
I am told (after the event) their Terms of Trade are on their website, so bad luck if you are computer illiterate, never used a computer before etc.
I purchased a cooktop which I & my electrician thought would fit in the existing space once we cut into it, but once he dislodged the old cooktop he noticed the substrate changed to a marble type which would not be easy to cut & dangerous dust could pollute.
Called Bing Lee H/Ville to advise I need to return the cooktop which I purchased 3 days ago, and purchase a narrower unit. I was asked if I had opened the flimsy cardboard wrapping & I stated we did but did not move it from the wrapping at all. So, because we had “cut the sticky tape” off the cardboard cover this meant I could not get a full refund due to their “Change of Mind” return policy in their Terms of Trade. They state that they will not be able to resell this untouched unit now at full price and have to sell it as floor stock. They were going to charge me 20% of the purchase price to return it. Upon speaking to the store manager of this multi-million dollar company, he said I could return at a reduction of 10% instead, which I was still not impressed or happy about considering I wanted to buy another unit. Bing Lee used to be very accommodating in the past, but I guess times are tough for a multi million $ company who needs you to pay them to re-stock an item. How can I be sure the item they sold me hadn’t been returned by another customer?? The glass unit was only wrapped in thin cardboard with styrofoam at each end. A small thin piece of Styrofoam on top of the glass with the instructions. Odd they only had 1 in stock!!
UPDATEl Bing Lee Customer Care are a waste of time. They pretend to “care”, but all they do is parrot what the store told me. So they consider sticky tape on flimsy cardboard “factory seals”, & because I opened the flimsy cover they consider this un-returnable unless I pay a re-stocking fee. All of this was not disclosed to me at time of purchase.Well, they have lost me as a customer. Plenty of other stores out there, ensure you ask about their terms prior to purchase.
Customer service gave very ‘blank’ treatment… the item I bought was for a gift for someone…. And the box the product was in, was torn down one side… which I had mentioned & asked if item was ok / undamaged…? anyway this was replaced with same product from the storeroom with one / box that looked like it was pushed around on the floor on all sides for a year & corners crumpled…
As a customer, I had no say and was told to sign collection form… no thanks, no bye, nothing….
Anyway when this is presented as a birthday gift tomorrow – extended family members & relatives will ask where the heck I got that from & explain this is what they also spent their money on! & if it still works?! Yup from binglee with the matching service! (Woman at counter probably thought I was fussy, but zero conversation was entertained, with a get your item and now leave stare…)
If anything I will avoid the Hurstville store & go to the city or Bankstown stores or jbhifi / Officeworks who will price match…

The reason I have been going there because of the customer service they provide. I’m talking about Mr.Ben who is a fantastic sales representative. He looks after you, gives discount and moreover, if any issue arises he helps you.
Recently, I had a issue in one of the item and still had warrranty.
I went to the store and Ben was not working that day, I had to deal with someone else. He didn’t even listen to me, he was super rude.
I was shocked the way he dealt with the issue.
Sorry, I won’t recommend this store anymore especially, later, if you have to deal with some issues.
