Prior to coming here, I had been to the Altons store where I was seeking some assistance to set up my phone. Unfortunately I am not a young person who is well versed with technology and capable of doing what would be an easy task for the more familiar people. I was turned away and ignored, even though I purchased my phone from JB Hi Fi, I was told to go to a phone shop who might help me, I explained that I am not technology savvy, I purchased the phone from JB not a phone shop and that I would expect that they would assist me. The sales person said we do not do that ( WHAT NOT PROVIDE CUSTOMER SERVICE) I asked for a refund then and was told because I opened the box (had cut the tape at each end) I was told they would not refund. I was turned away and the sales person walked off. Do they not understand consumer laws ie fit for purpose, if I can’t use it then I should be given a refund. What ever happened to customer service, we will take your money and that’s it!!!! I later called the Maribynong store an I was told they could assist, when I got there a similar response there, one sales person did offer to help, however they were not that knowledgeable (trained staff would be good) at least she tried, with out much success. I am very disappointed with the outcome, maybe as an older person service was a bit to much to expect, I do know that others do still offer service and I should have and recommend that others should only shop where they can get service not just take your money.

was beyond disappointed with my recent experience at this JB Hi-Fi. I went in at night to buy a phone, and when I arrived, there were four staff members by the counter and another five by the door. I made eye contact with several of them while hovering around the phone section, clearly ready to make a purchase. One staff member, who seemed to be the phone salesperson, made eye contact with me and then quickly disappeared out the back.

After waiting for about five minutes, I approached another staff member who was hanging out by the door and asked for help with the phone. Instead of helping, they told me they couldn’t assist and needed to call the phone person. To make matters worse, the rest of the staff laughed at me, and I have no idea why. The same guy who had just vanished came out, only to input a SKU code into their system and inform me that they didn’t have the phone in stock.

This was incredibly frustrating because I urgently needed to replace my broken phone. I ended up going down the street to Officeworks, where I was served right away. The lack of initiative and customer service at JB Hi-Fi was disappointing, to say the least.
